Default Strong points on X4 pro

Had a freak collision with a wall on friday night (car not me!). I hit the side of the track (via an invisible b4) in a way that would have shattered both front arms on any other car, HOWEVER these things seem to be indestructable on the X4 pro

Having said that, I was able to shear both hing pins and snap the metal front arm mount.

Not sure whether its a case of Ansmann making really good front arms or very brittle metal parts. What has everybody else (who has an X4 broken on their X4s?

notme also broke the pins in a crash, he was thinking the pins were weak rather than the arms being strong ?

Thats what I was suspecting, i've now fitted Associated ones that seem much stronger (given that I went through 3 cutting disks on the Dremel in order to cut them down to size!)

Thetre is a new front brace released which is stronger and sexy black me-thinks. I think the hinge pins have been over hardened so they break a bit too easily.

Only thing I have broken is a shock shaft on mine.. Plus my car has had 24 packs through it now and my diffs are still as good as when I built them

Dave has just ordered me one. Coupled with the front arms and the Associated pins the front should be pretty strong (as I then snap a front arm this friday)

surely yokomo bmax hinge pins would work fine. only broke one in 2 years and it was a vicious crash
bmax front brace might work as well. most parts are fully interchangeable
what do you guys think of the slipper on this car think im gonna drop one in my bmax but would like to no how people are going on with em
thanks

So far I can't fault any part of the drivetrain on this car - unbelievably quiet and smooth, provided the diffs are properly shimmed.

I can't see why the hinge pins from a Bmax wouldn't work, but unsure as to whether the front brace would fit. It looks the same as the Ansmann one but it only takes 1mm misalignment on the screw holes for it to not fit

If the pins and front arms are to solid mate it will find the next weakest point to break ,The Chassis . I am impressed on how quiet and smooth yours and rob's cars run though .

I get your point mate. I've just replaced the front brace with the uprated one - quite expensive but it is twice as thich an is made of a much higher quality alloy. Might revert back to the brittle Ansmann hinge pins as it will be cheaper and quicker to rone of them than a chassis plate.

Obviously the easiest thing to do would be to stop driving like a maniac and stay away from the track sides
