Heres another one of my fav Pictures.

It's a recent one taking from the BTCC at Cotswolds. Very rare for me to get a pic like this with the lense being Auto-Focus only and i havent got used to it to be able to catch many photos many like this.

Is there a setting that will let me take the photo straight away without it focusing and taking forever?

Nice one, nice and low, just what I like to see.

What do you mean autofocus only ? there is no focus ring ? I wouldn't use a focus ring anyway. The best way is to focus using autofocus and then lock that focus using a button - I think this can be setup on the D50 but I have not used one so cant tell you how.

Nope there is no focus ring. When we bought the the lense it had no aperture ring thats why it was cheaper than some hense why you would need it on Auto-Focus.

I'll give that a try Jimm, Thanks.

He is back from Belguim told him about the size of the pics on his site. They are that size because he downloads over two thousand pics of each meet and his 2gb memory on the site is always full. Also he has had problems with people printing pics and not paying for them (which you must relate with jimmy). But when he comes to take pics of the cars he will put them up bigger.

The problem with my own site is I upload around 105 - 135Mb of data after each days racing, hence the small pics. Even a marginal increase in size would mean a VERY large increase in upload amount. (Takes around 4.5 to 6 hours to upload)
I currently keep around 10 months worth on site, on a roll on, roll off basis. If I reduced this to six months, I could possibly increase the picture sizes, but I don't look forward to 10 hour upload sessions  .
As far as submitting to forums, I submit larger pics (Ain't my server, after all )

Hmmm. I use Photobucket, seems to be good.

Register on a photosharing site and then upload one of your pics.

Then it should give you some links. URL IMG and there are more, the link you want is IMG.

So copy the link with [IMG/] and then paste it into your reply.

Hope this helps.

Could any one help me with the D50. i have no focus ring and Jimmy was on about a "lock Focus" feature which means it wont take about 5 seconds to foucs and will stay on that foucs?

Thanks,

Willz

Will, you should have a switch at the front of the camera to switch to MF (manual focus) you focus on the object or piece of track which is on the racing line, then switch to manual focus. As the car comes towards the point you focused it will get more and more in foucs, until it get to the point were you set the focus. This is called pre-focusing, and is what everyone did before the joys of auto focus.

Just looked at a photo of the D50, where you attach the lens there is a small switch nearby at the front of the camera marked AF or M this is the switch for manual or auto focus

Hi Stu,
I'm in the Pendle area, living 10 minutes outside Burnley. I cover the North West MotoX (I'm an AMCA photographer) although I'm often out of the area too, (France and Belgium etc.)

I've Been getting earache from Spenny to point the camera at his RC (when I get a free minute)

haha busted spence!
Welcome camera guy. To be honest I don't mind people using the photos off here for personal reasons that much, I don't make any money what so ever selling prints so maybe thats the reason why. Ah well.

Are there any places around these parts (actually, youre not that far away) where I might be able to go take some MX piccys ? even better if youre there to dish out some advice (so I dont get run over for instance). I fancy using my camera(s) more, like im sure Stu does too - lets have a photo party! haha
