Default Carpet racing. Blackpool in the 80's

Not sure if this is really the place but I was just reminiscing about when I used to race 12th scale in the old Church hall on Preston Old rd in Blackpool. I think it's some kinda theatre/dance school now.

The club also raced buggies at St Nicholas Church.

I can't even remember the make of my first car, but it was a Saudia Williams F1 car.No lexan body and 6 volts and very basic but then I didn't have much money back then being only 11/12 yr old !

We used to use a liquid to soften up the foam tyres and my fast charger consisted of a 12v car battery charger with a big wirewound resistor bolted to a piece of ally on my pitbox. At the end of racing, I had a 12v car bulb that I used to discharge my nicads.

Think I graduated onto an associated after that, but I can't remember which one, though I'm pretty sure that stuffed somewhere in my parents house loft is a lexan shell for it.
