Default Monster Trucks needed for 4yr olds !

My boys have both decided they want a remote control monster truck from Santa this year. They are both only 4 years old, so anything 'big' and fast would be a nightmare.

Ideally I want something that runs for ages - goes slow and can be played with in the house.

Anyone got any good ideas ? Recommendations ?

I was thinking about these - but they look a bit too plastic fantastic and I know my boys will give them some serious stick !

That Nikko VaporizR looks awesome.

Only problem is I need 2, it looks like you can get 2 different frequencies from the info I've found on the web, but shops don't tell you which one you'll get !
Nightmare...

I'd consider rock crawlers to be used indoors

They are slow enough for indoors and have more power than cheap monster trucks which can be useless as they often can't get over much of anything

Depends on yr budget of course - I got traxxas summits for me n my lad when he was 5

A Tamiya TLT-1 In stock form they are not too quick - Not the best performers either to be honest (locking the center diff does help). However, they seem to be available VERY cheaply recently - for as little as 75 euros NIB! In stock form they are a good car for someone new to RC I think and can be set up to be run in 2WS and 4WS with the parts included in the kit. The axles are pretty compact and tough I think, so when he grows up you can convert it to a crawler, make or buy a custom chassis for it

A custom chassis like this perhaps? Traxxas 1/16 gearbox for lower CoG and slipper clutch (and a center diff as a setup option), 3000+kv brushless, room for a good stick pack LiPo and an overall scale appearance by usig an extended wheelbase, Tamiya Wild Willy 2 tires and an HPI Wheely King body. It goes like stink (here is a video with the original chassis but same electronics running on snow and ice), especially with the new chassis it is a lot more stable and the drivetrain should be up to the abuse now.

Losi micro cars are small enough to be used indoors without too much damage!

They have a 1/24th scale rock crawler and a short course truck.

I bought a Losi micro a while ago, they are ok for 'big kids' but not really what my boys want, also they only run for 5 mins, I want something that runs for at least 30mins between chargers.

The crawlers look good, but I'd want the 'mini' one, not the micro, and they look too complicated, expensive etc for a 4 year old!
