B5M Ball Diff or Gear??
I took my B5M out for the first time last weekend and had loads of issues with the ball diff!! screaming what ever you did to it.
checked the slipper and it was fine. CML was called Monday and ive been asked to send the diff to them. so I race on astro is the gear diff ok?????? |

Gear Diff
I have raced other models with gear diff (Losi 22 and Schumacher KF) and found the gear diff made these buggies really loose on the rear end unless you had brand new tyres.
Recently got a gear diff for my B5M and was pleasantly surprised that this did not seem to effect the buggy as in other cars. I think this is probably due to the in build rear traction the B5M seems to have and putting the gear diff in actually improves the drive. Having a gear diff is less maintenance and gives a constant performance whereas ball diffs can get crunchy and act differently within a few laps. FYI: I used 10000wt oil and this seemed to work OK |

We find gear diff fine in B5M on astro. Just set the slipper properly to avoid wheelies.
Don't know why your ball diff did that - they are bullet proof. When I build a ball diff and fit to our B5M it lasts months!! I once had the same effect you report, then I found I'd assembled it the wrong way around in the gearbox - it loosened itself every run. |

Cheers guys
I have been in contact with a team driver and he said to put the gear diff in as well. I am waiting to hear back from CML in the near year with what they find. I checked the diff build and the way it goes into the buggy and it was correct. other than that its a mental ride I am glad I bought it MERRY CHRISTMAS James |
