Default Indoor Finals Lack of Competitors/Entries

Hi All
As of today I have a total of 39 entries for each day of the National Indoor Finals event at York on 4/5 April 2009. Clearly if entries stay at this level we will need to cancel the event as the club will lose money as will the caterers for the meeting.
Obviously no-one wants to do this so if you intend going please let your Regional Rep know as soon as possible.
A final decision as to whether the event runs or not will be taken on Monday next and the result posted on oOple.
Regards
Charlie Fraser

Is everyone aware that 2009 Lipo's are permitted?

Think its all about the timing, cost etc. more than the batteries. York is expensive to stay at and with the credit crunch people are a bit more careful

I'm NOT going to disagree that the "credit crunch" will have a little to do with it, but why is it expensive to stay at York?

I can't make it due to money issues.

Can I suggest though for people to car share, and hotel room share. It may be obvious, but it is a way of seriously cutting the costs.

Does it clash with something else, such as an 1/8th meeting?

Could it be held on just Sunday and have 2 classes on one day?

York can be relatively expensive cos its a trap for tourists, but there are plenty of cheap places relatively close.

The credit crunch is definately biting, I know cos I've been bit. Probably won't do the far north east regionals this year if I don't get another job soon

Unfortunately it does clash with the first round of the BRCA 1:8 Off-Road Nationals at Frankley so there will be a few missing...

I thought these things were always set not to clash? I'm guessing a lot of people will be doing that then! Shame really! As others have said maybe a oneday meeting? What's the minimum needed to do the meeting?

P.S. That's not having a dig about it clashing, there must be loads of factors go into setting the dates so am not having a go!

I reckon it could be done in one day, no reason why not, taking worksop for an example with the amount of drivers they have in a days meeting and finish at a reasonable time still, obviously the indoor finals would take abit longer as there will be a proper drivers briefing with rules, cautions and apointed referees etc and races may not get underway till abit later on

It may just be the Indoor Finals which clashed, as compared to other events it is arranged with relatively short notice with little choices due to what has already been pre-arranged. With so many racers now doing both classes id imagine the 1/8th and 1/10th nationals don't clash.

With lots off people loosing there jobs & short of cash Yorks a big expense when you take hotels & everything in to account.
