Vector Brushless Motor Problems
We have a New 2 star vector brushless motor which has just broke down, after just 2 months, and precious little running.
The rotor has come loose on the shaft. This is the third motor that I know of that has failed with a rotor type problem. I only know of three users of this system making it an impressive 100% failure rate of the maintenance free brushless system from LRP. Does anyone know of any other similar failures? Are we doing something wrong? or is there a manufacture / design fault? We run this in our B4 geared on a 21 pinion 81 spurr |

Erm, sounds like the one I sent back to the shop. LRP 1 Star Brushless. Screws and end bell came loose at the pinion end, you couldnt tighten them up. Sent back to shop and replaced within 2 weeks, but if its the same problem, there seems to be a trend :/

I have a 3* system for my B4 and a 4* system for the ZX5. both have been trouble-free all season so far. I'm very pleased with them.
BUT .... I've noticed some of the motors come with REALLY crappy bearings. The vibrations generated by these could be the cause of the magnets on the rotor coming lose. My advice would be to check the ball bearings before running it and replacing them if needed. The only other problems I've seen with the LRP/Nosram BL systems seem to be that some ESC's have a will of their own, demonstrating itself in resetting, engaging the overheat security for no apparent reason, ... |
