A good wheel transmitter?
I currently have using sticks for my racing - running my B44. But I have been thinking of giving a wheel transmitter a go instead.
I am gonna try before I part with my hard earned cash, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a wheel transmitter that is: 1) Around the £100 mark (don't mind 2nd hand) 2) Able to run two different cars - each with their own receiver 3) Isn't made of cheap and nasty plastic like some of the RTR transmitters 4) Reliable for club and regional racing I keep seeing lots of Spektrum DX3s and also the new Ansmann W6. Any suggestions would be great. |

Can't vouch for the Ansmann but the Spekky radios are great I have the DX3r but the 3s is ace and has all you need for racing

Does have a solid feel? Light or heavy? |

It looks cheap but it's sturdy and the transmitter is so light you even forget you have it in your hands at first.

the spektrum must be a great radio, many people like it. I tried it once and I dont feel comfortable with the trigger and the wheel. And the trigger had much side to side play... which isn't important but sanwa for example don't have play.
I would recommend to try some radios before you buy one. But I would prefere to take a new cheap radio instead of an old used top radio. I would try futaba 3pm x, sanwa mx3 .. |

While I could say that you should save up more money and get a Futaba 4PL or a Sanwa MT4 I will not as they are over your budget. The Spektrums are made of a very nasty plastic that gives the impression of a cheap toy. Pity, as they are not that far behind the others in terms of what is on the inside as they are with build quality.
What I would recommend you take a look at is a second hand Futaba 3PK. If you are lucky you might even find a 3PKS with a 2.4 GHz FASST module for not much more than £100. If not, FM 40 MHz still works. It actually works better today than ever before as almost nobody else uses it. This leaves you with more available frequencies and less interference. The 3PK-family (3PK, 3PKB and 3PKS) really is that much better than the 3PM family for only a symbolic price premium.

I can vouch for the 3-PKS....it's a great Tx and I picked up my one for 100 (2.4ghz).
However, I also have a flysky fs-gt3 which I use for my bmax at the moment. In fact it's almost identical to the annsman W6 but cheaper. You can pick these for about 30 pounds and they are great. It has lots of features and they have a bit of weight on them which helps! |

I am currently using this at the moment and so far so good.
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/spektrum...products/39532 I plan to upgrade this at some point, but for now it does the job. The basic features are : 2.4ghz 20 model memory LCD display Digital trim It is not a high end model, but it works fine for both my cars and to be honest at this stage if I had many more settings I wouldnt know what the hell to do with them anyway! And it is £74.99 brand new off the shelf!
