Which steering plate do you use, ZX, ZX-R or custom?

Do you have any current pics of your mid?

I did a dummy up using the regular Lazer turnbuckles and the Lazer plate on a Mid chassis and I found the plate fouled on the front gearbox case, I have trimmed a plate so it clears but I suspect the same issue would be there with the blue turnbuckles so curious to see what his solution was

That brings me to another question I have been meaning to ask, I notice that the blue turnbuckles place the plate at a different height to the regular black lazer steering parts, does this cause any issues and do you mount the plate on top or under the turnbuckles? Also they don't come with a top spacer what is a good substitute I don't have the black spacers handy for my build

When using the 39655 (blue steering) things will be a bit tighter in the front hence why the zxs uses the LAW24 wich will give some more space in front.

btw welsh have made an package so soon ....

i tried using the ZX plate, but i only have one for my ZX. so i now use the plate that came with my A&L steering set. its graphite and fits nicely. I will get some pics soon. in order to clear the mids gearbox you will have to play with the bellcrank height, not only that, you will have to find the right height so that bumpsteer is kept to a minimum i used the spacers that came with the 39655 set. you also have to mount the connecting rod from the servo to the bellcrank underneath becuase if you put it on top you cant mount the topdeck.

Some pics would be great. I have an A&L steering set for my SWB Mid build.
I have a standard ZX plate that I put a recess into so that it would clear the mid gearbox with ZX bellcranks when I test fitted but at the time I didn't realise that the 39655 bellcranks are a different height.
You can see the mod I did to the ZX plate in the pic below against a standard one.

Default velvet shocks

are these the shocks you mean, see picture??

they are from a lazer ZX-5, not the big bores !

you can find the part numbers in the manual from a lazer ZX-5 and also ZX-5 SP or FS or maybee from a ultima RB-5 they are somewhat smaller in lenght i think.

LA-60 is for the ZX-RR and LA-57 is from the ZX-R if i'm correct and i don't think it goes on a lazer ZX but see what others say.

if you want fibre lyte has the LA-60 in carbon and matching topdeck in carbon but for the ZX-RR ! i think the distances of screwholes are different.

Hi Oli I have a ZX-RR upperdeck I don't have any plans for. Its not new but its in great condition. For the shocks I think the part number is W-5181,2or 3 for short medium and long respectively.

I don't think that W-5181,2or 3 is the correct part number! The velvet shocks have the following part numbers

W5303V
W5304V
W5305V
OR
W5194V
W5195V
W5196V
OR
W5303GM
W5304GM

I don't have a clue wich ones will fit the lazer ZX

Cheers
Oli

Hi Oli, I'm out of town at the moment but will email you pics when I get back. I did post a pic in this thread a while ago however. I see what you mean about the part numbers, one set of three numbers is standard bore and the other set big bore. No sure on the last two numbers. The numbers I quoted might have been for the equalizer shocks. I have to say all the Kyosho spring and shock part numbers confuse me!

Its in great condition, what would it be worth if it is one of these?

Found it Daniel! Looks mint to me.....
No worries let me know the price once you get back.

Thx
