Default 21.5 brushless motor - gritty issues

Just purchased TRX ET-21.5Tnew off the bay.

Recieved it after only 5 days. Brilliant.

However, when manually spinning the motor by hand, the action is very gritty. I have an EZrun 13T than spins freely by hand. I have had a GT10.5 that was very gritty when spinning by hand also.

Once I apply full throttle, the motor spins up nicely and the noise is quite quiet (not as quiet as the EZrun). At low rpm (not attached in car) the motor is rough again.

Could the motor be out of alignment (end bell to end bell)? Could the bearings be dry?

Any advice on what to check would be appreciated

Cheers

Si

hi, open the motor up and check the rotor , it may be chipped or cracked , more likely though is the motor has been run in wet filthy conditions and has never had the bearings oiled , once you have the rotor out you will be able to inspect and check the bearings indavidually ,
word of warning , when reinserting the rotor make a tube of thin card or thick paper and put that into the motor can then slide the rotor in , there are a few vids on youtube on how to strip and clean BL motors,
all the best
