Default Charging query....

I have a brand new orion IQ605 charger and charging two orion 90c 6500mah sticks.

I link them together with a link wire just like it would be wired in the car, then im charging them at 4s 14.8v 5A and away it goes.

all seems okay but each time I do it it wont charge faster than 3.2A.

Charging directly from mains

Would I be best selling orion and getting a dual charger and charge each pack individually?

cheers for advice!

You just need a charger with a higher power rating. The 208b would be capable of charging that 4s battery at over 3c and still not hit its overall power limit.

Sounds like you hit the Power limit of your charger, you need one which is at least 100W

It's all about power. It sounds like your charger is a 50W charger or is limited to 50W when run from the mains. Depending on what voltage your pack is at your charger will change the current to keep it within its 50W limit. 50(W)/15.625(V)=3.2(A) As the voltage rises further the current will drop further.

If you had a dualcharger and split the pack then that would be fine because the 7.4V pack would fall within the 50W limit when charged at 5A. Depending on the charger you would then likely be able to charge the pack at the maximum current available on said charger.

your charger...

Charge current range: 0.1-5.0A (max. 50W)

P=VI, so 14.8x5=74w

Its best to charge those batteries one at a time with that charger.
And yes most 1/8th ep guys run dual charger or 2 singles.

Another IQ605 would be better as you could charge both at 5 amps, but nowadays you need more than that for the bigger packs. a 10 amp charger is really what you want to future proof.

after a bit of research another IQ605 is better I agree.

all high quality ones require a power supply and arent mains operated either which means more $$$
