charge maybe a £1 for every sale advert and 50p for wanted ads .Much cheaper than ebay and lot of folk post ebay adds redirecting you to there ebay posting helping ebay to make cash.

The problem with that is you get people doing general adverts in all the sections not just the for sale section. I guess I'm already guilty of that on some of the sections, but I do try keep them to a minimum, and they also gert plenty of hits ;-) which is good for the site I guess

Also a subcription site is very dodgy ground. It can easily kill a site off. Even one as good as this. It's suprising how unloyal people are if there is another site that's free LOTS will migrate to that. Which I'm sure Jimmy is well aware of.

Quite agree..the site is invaluable to returning veterans like me, newbies or regulars.
Would willingly donate/subscribe for all the great info..
As most clubs seem to use the site for their race calendars etc. ( and in some cases abandoned their own sites ) it would only seem reasonable to make a small charge for their appearance.!

I would make a donation for sure, it's a fantastic site and well worth some annual investment from us who benefit from it !

Keep up the good work oOple !!

Wow, what a heartwarming response from everyone

A couple of points to make - we know that the current server isn't meeting the needs of the website, we have started paving the way to transfer across to a new server.

At the same time the website needs a lot of general loving, updating, and new content - this is the most time consuming bit and what Jimmy will be spending a lot of time working on.

Whilst the advertising funds we receive will help to contribute towards the costs of this unpaid work, and the NHS will hopefully prop me up to help pay the bills, any other sources of income are very gratefully received - whether this is through a small donation or showing some oOple love by buying decals, window stickers, tshirts, hoodies, hats, etc (all these items will eventually be displayed on the newoOple shop, or something).

Jimmy's right, we don't want to sell-out and don't want to crush the website look by over-advertising. It is possible that when the website is redesigned there will be other advertising opportunities available and with it we'll probably look at how we can improve the for sale section and possibly introduce a subscriber fee for that section, but for the best part I believe that keeping the website free and readily available for its wider audience is the best option. As I say any contribution is really appreciated but if you really want to show your oOple appreciation then contact me for more details on oOple wares

Thank you to everyone who has given such positive feedback - it is great to know that the effort that goes into making fun content for the website is enjoyed, and that the forum provides useful information. We look forward to making a bigger and better oOple

Default A-MAZ-ZING!!!

I would happily donate a quid (even more) to help out

I have just returned to RC after a little over 10yrs and I have to say without Oople I wouldn't have been able to find:-

- The right car
- The right equipment
- The right local clubs
- The right advice
- The right stockists of equipment and shiny bling hop-up!

This site has helped no end and helped me avoid spending money on the wrong things and the great members on here have pointed me in the right direction on so many set-up queries too

As for moving forward, I would recommend start by making the "for sale" section a fee based per contribution area as this is used by those looking to make a few quid from the community that Oople provides, so it's only fair they help contribute to Ooples upkeep - just a thought!

Update - Just have (£5)

£10 Donation winging its way to Mr & Mrs Oople..

Thanks for all your hard work...

Just a thought on a few of the other forums I visit they have section sponsors.. So for instance on the detailing forum, they have AutoGlym sponsor a particluar area, Menzerna another. Then in addition materials supplier/shops sponsor differing sections. This may be a way to get some extra funding.

Personally I'd like a car window sticker, or alternatively hauler/butler stickers etc. Shows your support for the forum and gets more people coming on here.
