Default Wheels coming off !! (TM2)

Hi all ,
I experienced my TM2 backing rear wheel nuts loose and even in 1 heat a wheel coming off . Using serrated nuts and tightened them just before the heat.
Running on high grip indoor astro.
Could this be slipper too tight ?or diff issues ?.
Using new team c wheels and standard axels / 12mm hexes.
I'm a bit baffled and don't want it to keep happening .
Any ideas ?

I had this problem at West Bridgford last Saturday. Just checked the wheels on the off chance and the rear left was loose so I tightened it up. The same wheel came off mid race. Didn't realise it until I got home and cleaned the car up that the hex on the wheel had rounded so I can only think that it had rounded slightly when it was loose and then in the race after it finished it off.

The amount of drive the car produces on high grip tracks is immense. From now on I'll check them after every race.

By the way I use serated wheel nuts aswell.

I had exactly the same earlier in same meeting lost all drive and realised one wheel hex had been completely rounded out. This is why I'm thinking it could be too much drive ie slipper too tight ?

Can you over tighten Alec ? The rear wheels feel like they are binding when you really wrench them up ? Could it be something more serious ?

It's worth checking that the bearings are ok and also that the roll pin hasn't broken. You should be able to REALLY tighten the nuts without things binding, if you can't you need to check the bearings and crush spacers are all ok.

I'd try everything Chalkie has suggested. Seems more serious than the slipper too tight.
I checked my bearings and so on and all was fine. Just have to make sure I check them before every race form now on.

Seems as though I've made a school boy error and had the hex's wrong way around with the pin on inside instead of outside . Doh !! They seem to tighten a little firmer now . Fingers crossed . Thanks everyone .

Did the car come with crush washers? if not I would make some or get some out of the 4WD then you can properly tighten your wheel nuts,
the back of the tm2 is basically the same as the 4wd so do a comparison to make sure everything is ok

Bens found out what he had done wrong, he'd fitted the hexes and pins back to front
