idea for upper deck ballstud breakages

wouldnt think that would work cos it jsut rips straight out. doesnt even bend out sometimes. it just comes clean off.

I don't think so, look at this photo. I think the geometry would be changed too much.

Not without compromising the intended geometry! I looked at these sort of things when I had the BJ4WE .... came to the conclusion to move on, but that's just my preference.

I have used some of the older style large AE washers and used the bigger 4-40 nuts on the top. Make sure that the ball joint is screwed in fully as it can bind up a little in the carbon fibre hole and when this is loose, the problem is more likely to occur. Crank the ball joint up and use a large nut and this should help.

I will try and find the part number for the larger washers!

It is the same size washer that's used to space the front bumper off the bulkhead. I have written down part number 6936 for this item although I was unable to check this on the rc10.com website.

as a quick fix you can move the ballstuds down onto the back of the gearbox. where the anti roll bar is meant to go. you will make the holes abit bigger but it will still work in the future with other screws. maves the car abit more responsive on some surfaces with low grip. but terrible on high grip tracks

I'd strongly suggest not to do this if you want the car to handle at all

Rich your right ... never had a problem with quality of parts on the BJ4.

What I should of said was I looked at ways of getting the inner ball joint lower but couldn't get it to a point I was happy with using any ball studs I could find. That forced me to look at other mounting locations / methods for the ball studs I could get to achieve the geometry I needed .... all would have been too much of a compromise so the upshot was I couldn't move the ball stud where I needed to get the car to drive the way I wanted it too ...... hence why I moved on.

i cant remember where but ive seen a picture of someones bj4we and they have added a blue alluminium mount for the rear ballstuds. it puts the holes lower down. hard to explain i cant think where i saw the picture, maybe my bro or rich lowe could help??
