New RB5 vega carpet set up.
Have any of you team drivers an up to date carpet set up for my rb5 vega that has small bores ? ( for an aggressive driving style )
I will be running staggers on the front Cheers

Tony gave me this setup for carpet the other day for my rb5 vega with small bores
Worked very well i thought very responsive Front 40w oil no. 3B piston with silver spring. Middle on the tower and outer on the wishbone Stagger ribs yellow with no foam insert - cut the wheel so it's narrow. Rear 30w 3B piston oil with rear silver spring middle on tower with inside on wishbone The rear link make as long as possible on the hub (furthest out) and short high on the tower. Short wheel base Ride height at 21mm all round 90g under esc weight only I ran it with the 0 degree rear hubs & 30 degree front Hope that helps

On carpet, I would use for the rear link outside lower hole on tower and hole 2 on alloy hubs. I found it sharper on turns.
Also I use 45g instead of 92g esc weight, especially with a regular full size servo. Big bores with Nick three holes pistons were awesome on jumps and bumps, still responsive. |

Oh on you rear wishbone do you mean inner standard hole or have you drilled the 3rd hole?
Has anyone any pics with the new hole as I've done mine and the shock bottom fouls the wishbone Cheers

shocks have to go on the back of the arm with a spacer ( for anti-crush) where the shock used to go, also put a few mil' on the top shock bolt to lay them back a little. HTHs

Hi all
Using 45g under the Speedo is a twitchy set up. As fast as that can be in the hands of our superstar Kevin Lee, I assure you 92g under Speedo is just as quick and feels safer. Running the link low is a very fast set up and I agree it can be faster but only with a new set of tyres and you will suffer on any slippery sections. With indoor tracks recently there is more and more slippery stuff put in and I have found the upper hole is just as fast but more consistent. Nicks pistons are extremely good and I run them when on big bores set up but Tom the question was for small bores mate. The third hole on the wishbone is rarely used indoors. We run that outdoors. When you drill the extra hole it is obviously the same distance apart as the other exciting 2 holes. You don't have to run on the outside like stated. If you run the shock inside the slot on the wishbone you will have to file a slot at the shock angle so the ball shock cup doesn’t foul. That's all. I used to that all the time but now I have become lazy and mount the shocks on the outside of the wishbone with a 20mm screw so it’s secure. Nick Caro uses washers to stop crushing of the wishbone - I don't - 20mm is long enough to make sure it's secure without over tightening the screw. Please all, I don't want no one taking offence if I argue with all of the theories. 13th at the Indoor BRCA 2wd Indoor Championships the other week says the set up is not far off. I was happy with that - J

Thanks Tony, very usefull as always.
I will try the upper hole on tower. I used 45g mainly because with a RSX servo and 90g the car was nose diving too much for my taste, even with a 60g underlipo weight. Might need your side pods weights Mickey: 3 holes 1.5 front, 1.7 rear. |

That is a very very good balance. As for nose diving - I wish i can get mine to do that - all it means is to open up the throttle more and get even more distance - LOL

Try stiffer rear springs tony or a smaller/lower/flatter rear wing. HTH
