How to get the best RC-Drive-Style?
HI,
I'll have on Sunday my first race. Does anybody have some tipps how to drive perfect? Should I drive cool or aggressive or how should I do it best? In this race with 11 people are min 8 of them very good driver's. I really don't want to be the 9th or worse . I think my setup for the track is perfect made for me but I think I'll be nervous ........ (Sry for my bad English, I'm not so good at school) Kamikaze_racer

Error free is the best by a long long way - No errors in a run and let your ability do what it can.....

don;t bolt in the fastest motor you have, you will only crash more. Try and start with a slow motor, and when you can finish a 5 minute race with only 1-2 errors, then move up to a slightly faster motor.
The other cars may look faster on the straight, but if they crash a lot you will be the one who wins the race. Too many beginners get tempted by trying to make the car fast in a straight line. It will only cost you loads in spare parts if you can;t control it properly!!

Rule of thumb - slow is fast especially in technical part. If you'll watch top drivers you'll might notice that they will seem to be very slow, but they still lap very fast times.
Definitely consistency and clean run are very important (yea consistently crashing isn't way to go).

you loose more time in a single crash than you gain from pushing really hard

It's all relative, but the frustration I have at times is with being a little too safe. At club level there is no doubt that a crash free run will get you pretty high up the order (within reason). For example I have managed to win heats/races and yet my fastest lap is among the slowest in the heat. It all comes down to reducing that average lap time. As a general rule try to get your average lap time within a second of your fastest lap, and then try and look for places on the lap where you are losing time and work on that to get the lap times down. Also speak to people about car set ups. Problem is at Regional/National it's another story cause there is much less in it so you could have a crash free run and be in the bottom final cause almost everyone there can do a crash free heat.
