Offroad now running at GRCC (Aberdeen)
Hi folks,
GRCC are now running off-road heats at our indoor venue in Newtonhill (just off the A90 south of Aberdeen). Since the meetings include Touring cars, Mardave's and "silver can" class, we have made a few lightweight jumps and other obstacles which we temporarily put down for the buggies. The next meeting on Sunday 13th will hopefully also have our first "Wall of Death" (if I can finish it in time) At the moment we run the buggies on foams, as the club does not want to risk damaging the prima-felt carpet with nasty spiked tyres. But we hope that in the event more buggies turn up, we can get the okay to use mini-pins etc. Although foams tyres/wheels for off-road are not readily available, those of us who have had a set made, found that they handle extremely well (My car is setup as per a minispike setup). Also, a couple of guys up here have offered to make them, should anyone else want a set but not have the know-how. People can enter as much classes as they want as long as they have someone to cover their marshall requirements. For more details please visit www.grampianrcc.co.uk for further info. Thanks and best regards, Dasbo PS. Here's to another year of racing in the muddy stuff. |

Hi John,
GRCC race roughly every 2nd Sunday during the winter. We stop during the summer as we all race outdoor at Stonehaven during the summer. You can get some more information on our forum; www.grampianrcc.co.uk/forum (or google grampian rcc). Any more info you need, PM me. Cheers Marc Baynham Race Director |

One of our members has posted up some videos of the off-road cars running yesterday at GRCC.
http://www.youtube.com/user/MrBriggs1978 I believe the off-road guys are trying to get a few more obstacles/jumps together for the remaining meetings. The club is mainly touring cars (usually 20+) with a growing following of Mardaves and a few off-roaders, hence the need for removable jumps. We are also requesting 4wds use foam tyres until we can get some evidence that they won't damage the carpet with minipin/spiked tyres. We have 3 meetings left this winter season; 27th Feb, 6th March, 20th March, and there will be an off-road heat at each meeting regardless of numbers, to ensure the class is given a chance to grow indoors in the region.
