As title
Are you all using tapered or normal flat?
Anyone using AVID springs or is it AE?

AE pistons and springs fit perfectly - others are using losi big bore springs but the pistons don't fit as they are a 3.5mm shaft and the yoke is 3mm.

TM2 pistons and springs also fit but I couldn't get them to work as well even when copying the TM2 shock settings

I've been using AE 1.6f and 1.7r for a whole now and have a good setup on them. I have been testing the yoke pistons again this week with 1 in front and 2 in rear and will try them again Sunday now I know which oils feel right after last nights race

I'm using AE 1.6 in the front and 1.7 in the rear which work very well

Never used the kit pistons but will give them a try next race meeting.

Am I right in thinking that number 3 piston has the smallest holes? Just a bit confused as the manual advises to use 2 front and 3 rear (all setups i've seen in the past advise to use the smallest hole piston in the front, this seems to be the other way round)

I run losi springs on mine but you need to run the losi lower spring cup for a perfect fit indoor I run pink rear and orange front . Out door yellow rear if dry and white if damp or wet

Piston sizes (I put a drill bit in the holes)

3 = 1.2
2 = 1.3
1 = 1.4

I found the 3 piston to have to much pack for outdoor racing - the AE ones are a good all round piston outdoors. The kit pistons work good on indoor carpet/astro only IMO

You could always drill out the yoko pistons

You could but I have AE 2 hole, Yoke 4 hole and Team C 6 hole to choose from!

TM2 pistons with taper down and drilled 2 holes out to 1.4 landed jumps really well and went through bumpy stuff really well but there not fast on the watch for some reason. AE pistons work well plus you can carry over the AE team setups for oils and springs.

If you check out petit you will see naoto has been trying 2/4/6 hole pistons lately so even they can't decide what's best

I am using Yokomo 6holes white pistons front and rear. Taper goes as kit recomends. I like them over kit black pistons because they do not come in a tree and they are absolutely round and also provide nice pack while being soft in corner entry and stiffer mid-turn.

Both piston flat and tapered can be used.
Flat for large track with long corners
Tapered for small tracks with small corners

TeamC or Abysma pistons are also fitting ( perhaps the same manufacturer than Yokomo )
Associated pistons OK ... same diameter than Yokomo piston ( except the shaft diameter, piston is moving a little )
Avid pistons OK ... but the external diameter is bigger than Asso/Yok pistons ( and thicker )...it could change the damping.

I ever test from 2 holes to 6 holes...on dirt track.
The 2 holes make the car quicker, more responsive, faster but perhaps a little bite more difficult to drive.
The 6 holes make the car stable, with more "pack" than 2 holes pistons and easier to drive than 2 holes

For springs, I personally use Yokomo spring because stiffer than Asso springs...when I use Asso springs more of the time I use Blue or White spring on the Front and Yellow on the rear.

So why do they suggest in the manual to put piston 2 in front and 3 rear.
Wouldn't it be better to run 3 in front and 2 rear so you won't have to use thicker oil and go thicker for rear.
I drive mostly on astro medium to high grip outdoor track.
So imho i would run piston 3 oil 45 front and piston 2 oil 35 rear
Or am I missing the whole point?
