Default Durability?

Hi all.. I'm about to start doing some nitro 1:8th racing in Malta in the new year on a very demanding track. Most of the current drivers are XB9 Team Xray supporters but even they do not finish every race.

What I'm looking for here are some suggestions of what you guys consider durable cars. And some reasoning etc.

Any thoughts and info would be fantastic.

Thanks

K

hello mate, long time since I have seen you on here,Hmm Malta that will be a little warmer than NBC

Anyway, if your after a tough car in my experience you need to be looking Mugen, I have run then in the past and found they were just bomb proof. the losi I run at the moment is ok, but if the racing conditions are as harsh as you say I think the ware rate will be high and you will soon be putting loads of new bits on it, If money is no object then kyosho I ran an MP9 for a while and it strong but very costly to buy new. mugen as its a little more cost effective.
The other thing is don't be tempted by cheep servos as rallyx is hard on servos in the best conditions, I personal have had very few problems with savox 1258's

I have no experience of other cars like agama etc exept from speaking to team drivers, who say they are fantastic......of course

Is xray the car of choice out there due to supply? maybe a case of when in rome do as the romans do

Thanks mate

A few have used Mugen in the past. I'll look into that one.

The guy who runs the club is the main dealer for Xray and Durango for Malta, hence a lot of the guys driving Xrays. I'm also tempted by the Durango, it's just so sexy to look at

Yeah..it's a lot hotter here Dave, was racing this past weekend in shorts and t-shirts..was 18c hehe...for the Christmas cup Lolz...

I'll have a surf around for Mugen info

yer give the durango a wide birth with the conditions your talking about.

You will have to post some pictures of this nice warm rallyx killing hell hole

But if it's a hard track, and Xray parts are the most available Xray could be the way

Thanks Dave

Here is a Tube of last years layout. It's now got a huge table top instead of the flyoff ramp and also has a new pair of ramps set near the wall that you get silly air on.. They only race till end of May, after that it's too hot hehe

Malta Track

Well..after a lot of research and personal taste choices. I think I'm going to race a Serpent Cobra 811 B over here in Malta. From all Ive seen the Serpent has a very good durability record and it's an easy platform to tweak and mod. It has a lot of set up options without being too complicated and it's main structural parts are very tough. I've been a fan of Serpent since the 80's but have never had the opportunity to actually have a Serpent buggy till now. Maybe I'll get a Spyder too and see how that goes.

I'll maybe post updates as I loose races this coming year

Thanks to everyone that has PM'd me with options and opinions. They have all be very useful.

What ever car you choose you won't finish every race you take part in there is no such car the Mugen is strong yes but no stronger than the Xray I have had both losi Kyosho AE JQ agama etc they are all very strong go with what takes your fancy but make sure you can get parts easy for it
