Just wondering what photos/info you have about the differences between the kits?
As far as I can see the different parts are slipper clutch, caster blocks, front hexes and arm mounts maybe the roll bars are different. The shock towers are the same |

There's a few pics on AE site, and one with the two cars side by side.
The front tower of the 64 has wider positions for shocks and only one set of link positions. Rear tower looks same to me as far as shock positions but has fewer (different?) link positions. I was thinking.. if they went for 5mm hexes at front and the car width is still compliant, maybe with the B64d thinner hexes we can fit 2wd front wheels and still fit in the BRCA box?

Happy to be corrected on my observations, but my B64d front axle width is over 250mm regardless of the hex width used. I tried the 5mm hex with a 4wd wheel and the widest point is still the axle nut wheel threads. It's almost 260mm. Reading BRCA 2017 rules max width for 2wd & 4wd is 250mm. If the BRCA box is only 250mm wide my car isn't gonna fit!

You are right guys.. my eyes tricked me (or my brain? )
It's just that the shock towers in the pictured prototypes are different than the kit ones, but they look the same for 64 and 64D. What do you mean by different arm mounts? The A B C D blocks look unchanged to me. Interesting point about the width.. BRCA max width is 250mm.. My car measures around 253mm at the axles end.. and NO, I won't trim the axles again!!!

Ok all I can confirm that the B64 is to wide across the front axles to pass BRCA National and Regional scrutineering as it fits in the box but then the suspension will not depress which I believe the car needs to do to be legal to race.
Just checked the updated BRCA 10th Off Road 2017 handbook here is the relevant section Quote:

Neil Craig's astro
Is Mr. Craig really running 3 or 3.5 degrees of rear toe-in on his B64 on high bite astro as listed on his set-up sheets (3) on petitrc? Maybe I'm misreading it.
If anyone knows if this is correct or what rear toe-in he's really running please let us know. In the US we are slowly switching to astro and don't know what we're doing. We are relying on Neil's set-ups to a certain degree. I've tried the pills the way that he has them as well as the rest of the set-up down to the finest detail and have a bad understeer. Thanks in advance! |
