Anyone know what this is?
Looks like it is using Schumacher type rear drive but I don't recognise it as a Schumacher.

looks like a mk 1 cougar with the aircraft alloy chassis.

The chassis looks moulded to me, whereas the cougar was a stamped alloy pan.
I'd put my money on it being an early Traxxas. |

That's what I thought. looks like a plastic, or at least moulded, chassis, but I can't help thinking those drive shafts look very Schumacher.

Just been having a look on Tamiya Club at some old Traxxas and they appear to be using similar drive shafts, so maybe you are right? Haven't found one that looks right yet.

As well as Schumacher, early Losis & Traxxas used a similar driveshaft but those driveshafts with that chassis make me sure it's a Traxxas.
Looks similar to the TRX3. Unfortunately the Traxxas website only has teeny pics of their old cars under their history section. Looking at your photos again it looks like there's a mounting for the esc just in front of the rear tower which is still used by Traxxas on their current cars. |

I think it's a Chadori AO7 buggy.

That might explain why it has AO7 on the shell !!
I've never heard of them and can't find a great deal on the web, what's it worth? |

I'm glad I didn't put any money on it being a Traxxas!
There doesn't seem to be much info around on these, but I think they were very cheap when they were new though. Google does find a uk shop stocking spares, http://www.cheshiremodels.co.uk, they may be able to shed some more light on it. Google also threw up this from last year http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/index.ph...t=#entry303505 (you've probably already seen these anyway) |

I have some parts in my garage that look an awful lot like that car. I have no idea where I acquired it though.

Looks like it's not the bargain I was hoping for, it's currently on eBay for £20 + P&P http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=008
I thought I was going to snatch a cheap vintage, but I think I'll give it a miss, especially given it rough condition. Thanks for the info guys you've saved me wasting £25, pity it wasn't some rare collectible. |

Unfortunately most people who sell vintages know they are vintage so price them accordingly, you have to be very lucky to pick up a cheap good condition vintage.

It's the Hobby world AO7, which is different to the similar Chadori buggy.
AO7 Chadori And it certainly isn't vintage, it was sold in the late 90s. http://www.cheshiremodels.co.uk sell the spares because they bought all the parts from J Perkins when they stopped supporting it.
