If your inside rear wheel is lifting then your front spring is too soft. Simples!!
Nothing to do with diffs etc it's to do with too much weight transfer

Actually, it's about ten more things to play with other than springs to fix this...

I had the same problems at my local track, where it lifted the inner rear wheel in a hairpin combo, and didn't carry enough speed. I just put the shocks in the outer hole on the arms, and the car felt stiffer, rotated better, carried more speed, and all this withouth bouncing around after a jump due to a way too stiff spring.

Agreed Martin I was being very simplistic! I was wanting to make the point that geared vs ball diff was probably not the first thing to blame! It certainly isn't to do with poor car design as some are trying to say! I appoligise for being a little sarcastic!

hey guys,

last sunday tested my geardiff for the first time (see post on page 3)

nothing wierd or anything, diff did its job just fine, the difference between the balldiff are hard to spot for me, so cant comment on that.

i did have some altered handling in the car as follows:

when going trough a fast sweeper or fast 60 degree corner and i let go of the gass, the car spins out in midcorner not using any throttle.

when i let go of the gas a little earlier and drive my line right and can stay a little on-throttle trough the corner it doesnt spin out.

i didnt had this the weekend before. the only things i chanced were the install of the geardiff and i went from 4 degree toe-in to 3 degree.

any suggenstions?

oh im driving rearmotor on astroturf, surface was damp. just the same as the weekend before.
running spikes at the back, and cut staggers in front.

The looseness off power sounds like a lack of side bite. This is probably caused by reducing your toe in. Im not saying the diff had no involvement. But the toe in would definitely contribute to the issue u describe!
Out of curiosity what diff oil were u running?

Generally the car is very good. There is however one point of design which someone is currently making me a part to alter. once tested i will let u know.

If it proves not to be, then i will retract my poor design comment. it is however something similar in design to a part of the dex210, which also has exactly the same handling issue.

Hopefully testing at taplow on Friday so dont have to wait long to find out if i go back on my comment or not.

and just to cover my hiney, i am a total losi fan boy, so im not merely picking holes. i receive help of many people, and as such if this proves a transformation i will happily share it to all fellow 22 owners.

i will change the toe in back to 4 degrees then, and see if your right

Thinner oil to make less friction will always be better as will rotate through corners better.. in warmer weather you may need to up it as will get warmer...

whats the downside of going too thin?

something like 500wt for example?

aside from the chance of reduced accelaration..

It will be easier for it to unload all the power to one wheel while cornering, so you have to wait 'til the car is done rolling and turning before you can punch the throttle, there is also a bigger chance that the diff will leak...

pffft, my car has never barked since the day I got my car theres way too many sc10 gear diff haters, but now that the losi one is out I'm sure it will be more common. Has anyone compared the 2 diffs, like how they feel with the same oil? I had my sc10 diff with 7k and JAUNE's with 5k side by side and mine felt a bit thicker, but not much, so has anyone tried with the same oil?

TKG is correct, I used 3000. I should have a mix of 3 and 7K next Wednesday.

I love this thing on carpet!

I've built mine per trl22 rtr manual page 37,theres an exploded view of gear diff.
http://www.losi.com/ProdInfo/Files/LOSB0122_Manual.pdf
Loaded with 3k diff oil and ready to go.
Liked the feeling on high grip carpet, very smooth.

Thanks for the post of the gear diff/ rtr manual.
I see the base setup uses 1000wt gear oil. Is this way to light?
