Wich battery for Novak 1/8 Brushless Conversion Kit?
Since I was a child I waned to turn a smelly 1/8 buggy into an electric buggy...and now ti seems to be very easy, you just need to get a buggy and the Novak Brushless Conversion Kit together with a 550 motor and an HV ESC!!!
I want to get a second hand Losi 8th and try to convert it, but do you think it will work properly with two 4500mah Orion battery packs? This thing is going to be pretty expensive...and I don't want to get some new Lipos now... Is there any UK online retailer selling the Novak conversion kit and motors? Otherwise I'll have to buy from US. |

Hello!
Now I'm not any expert on 1:8 brushless conversions, but everybody seems to recommend the new Mamba Monster ESC instead of the Novak combo. First of all the Mamba Monster is pretty cheap (only 170$ on RC-Monster!!). For the moment there are only the ESC on the market but CC will soon release a ESC/motor combo for about 300$ with a NEU motor. For the LiPos Orion are good, 4s is minimum in a 1:8 converted buggy or truggy. But if you want insane power Unitedhobbies has some REALLY cheap Polyquest LiPos which are about the best LiPos on the market (same cells as in the Flightpower series)! For around 150$-250$ you get a 4500-6000mAh PQ LiPo. Good luck with your project! 1:8 converted trucks and buggies are ACE! Cheers! Tobbe

I heard about the Mamba Monster, but I already have a Mamba Max on my LAzex ZX-5 SP and I'd like to try Novak this time!
I see everybody talks about Lipos...but don't you think that a couple of good NIMH 4500Mah would work well at the beginning? |

Trakpower have provided this very cell for the oOple review Hong Nor 1/8th electric (electrocross ) car..
Review should be up in about a month +/- .. If you give trakpower a ring and talk to James Mac he's very on the ball and will be able to advise you on yor needs and what will and wont work. Trakpower are the importers for Mamba systems if you didnt know.. J |
