Default Sensorless ESC + sensored motor = ?????

I have a Hobbywing EZ-Run 35A sensorless ESC and a Nosram Dragon 10.5T sensored technology brushless motor. Will this combination work??

No im pretty sure it wont the motor with just stall and not run propely if at all.The sensor lead tells the speedo where the rotor is in the can, with out this info it wont work

Not sure you have this the right way round.

In theory, a sensorless ESC CAN run a sensored motor (just without the sensor lead so it runs like a sensorless).

However a sensored-only ESC CANNOT run a sensorless motor (as the ESC requires the sensor feedback to work).

However, I have also read (but no first hand experience) that high-turn sensored motors don't run well with sensorless speed controllers. So an ezrun/10.5 combo probably won't work too good.

sensorless can run sensored and sensorless motors

sensored can only run sensored (in theory, there are exceptions)

The only thing you really need to concern yourself with, is, is the eZrun able to cope with the power drain of the 10.5?

Mmmm, seems to be a few different opinions here...

ESC is rated for 9T & above, and Nosram Dragon is only a sports spec 10.5T so I was hoping they would match up that way ok.

should do, but make sure you got plenty of air going over the ESC...

Sensored ESC's generaly require positional information of the rotor to be fed back through the sensor harness, whereas sensorless will see the information through the motor wires.

It should work fine, the esc is spec'd to run the 10.5
