Custom Carbon Fibre Chassis Supplier Wanted
Hi All,
My first post in this section, please be gentle! I'm building an electric 1/8 truggy using 2 cars from the same manufacturer. Never one to go done the easy road, I'd like to make my own carbon fibre chassis. The good folk at Fibrelyte have had a look at pics of the old chassis but the front kick-up appears to be an issue. Is there anywhere that can make me a blank carbon fibre chassis/sheet with kick-up? I can cut to size and drill all holes etc here. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for reading. |

Thanks,
I've been watching. One question, is the resin the same as that used for fibre-glassing? I have some of that here. Thanks |

Hi.
I use epoxy. Jerzi |

best bet is use something like the west systems epoxy, which is a cold cure epoxy resin, the polyester resin used with fibreglass would work, but it would be weak and easily damaged by impact so is not a good idea really. you should find plenty of things online about using cf, have a look around and a read....

What degree is the kick up? The reason I as is jake on RC10 talk is cutting chassis with a 25 and 30 degree kick up so it shouldn't be too hard to find the carbon you need

I've done my own parts over the years for rc and motorbikes and a few car bits, epoxy beats polyester hands down for what you're looking to do. There's a UK company that does bike bodywork on a forum I'm on. They can do complex curves so would be guessing they can do a sheet with kick up in they're sleep.

I can get chassis blanks with a 20, 25 or 30 degree kickup but shipping International may be killer.

Thats right. So wy is the seller thinking that way then.
Usa guys are thinking that way, it is quite normal in that country and i dont understand that. They willnt sell to Europe because the shipping is so high. I have send over 1000 items over seas and no problem. Alot to Usa. Jerzi |
