Schumacher website thoughts
HI all,
Just wondering if anyone else struggles to find the correct part on Schumachers website. Specifically, its when you DONT know the part number that is the problem. Trying to find it using their categories is sometimes bewildering: 1-10 Buggy Off Road Tyres1-10 Buggy Wheels and InsertsBatteriesBearings and BallsBig Bore ShocksBig Bore SpringsBodyshells and DecalsBrushless AccessoriesBrushless Esc and Motor ComboBrushless MotorsBrushless SpeedcontrolsChargers and DischargersChassis PartsElectric - Off Road CarsElectronicsGeneral AccessoriesPinionsShock AbsorbersShock and Diff OilSpeed PacksSpeed Secret - Option PartsSuspensionTeam ClothingToolsTransmission So the question is, wouldnt it be easier and nicer if you could jsut click on a part in the exploded diagram? Id be happy to put this together for them (in Flash with some nice animations and features - zoom, expand/collapse, view details, view price, etc) but only if enough people think it worthwhile too. Maybe its just me being thick? |

I just use the exploding diagram in my manual to find the part number and then tap it in on the search tab on the Schumacher site.....done.
Good idea tho

I'm confused...........
I just opened the SX3 exploded diagram, and when you click on the part number for any given part, it takes you to the correct page on the web site. Isn't that what you're asking for anyway?? I think the exploded diagrams have been like this for a while.

But I NEVER knew that feature was there - thats exactly what Im asking for (albeit, its a bit clunky and it should open in a new window, so you can go back to the exploded diagram and add more parts easily) I wonder why on earth Schumacher dont make this obvious - even some text on the exploded diagram would let you know!? Bottom line is I still think the Schumey website is woefully out of date and a bit rubbish; both in function but also in design (compare it to say Durango or Losi); but that exploded diagram linkage will certainly help me out. Thanks so much Matt! |

LOL.
Thank you Schumacher for giving me such a good example and perfect timing. Case in point: Literally was typing the above reply, when I got a news update email from Schumacher announcing their new "MEGA CLEARANCE" area on the website. You click the link and are taken to..... a blank page: http://www.racing-cars.com/scp/Produ...Clearance.html Awesome cars, awesome people, but sucks to be their website! |

I think the actual question could be better put if asked if the website could be improved in general, and for me yes it could. Just one look at the TD website shows some good ways of how to present a company on the Internet. I think it would also be a good idea to start doing the videos again that show you build and tuning tips. Maybe also some articles that explain different tuning and set ups etc. A guide to tyres and inserts could also be done. At the moment it just seems that it's out of date and needs a rethink so that it's clearer and better presented. |

I agree with others, Schumachers website is very outdated in design, but then again with thousands of parts listed on it I can see why a rewrite would be a pain!

Couldnt agree more. Llike I said, ~genuinely awesome people that work there - so helpful and brilliant designers ~ Great cars ~ Their postal ordering is one of the fastest on the Internet for me ~ Great customer service Its a shame the website is so 90's. No excuse having lots of parts too; as they are all held in a database. Theres no reason why that database needs massively updated, it can be bolted on for the new site and evolve over time. |
