Do people think it will live up to the hype?
I am concerned that this car has only been seen in the hands of some of the worlds best and they could win with anything. It's an old design now and one that was designed around heavy cells, now we have lipo, is the narrow chassis going to generate enough grip? I cant deny it looks fantastic from an engineering point of view but is it really going to set the world alight? For starters in the UK they have no top drivers that are going to win a national. Everyone who could is already signed up for 09. By 2010 they may have missed the boat and people could have lost interest. |

You could say that about the Aero as well Lee, weather it was lack of support or parts availability the Aero died a death I hope Durango do get the support side right but time will tell. It does bother me that there's no distributor in the UK yet, maybe Durango are just trying to make a killing on initial sales to recoupe on development costs.

What's old about it, oil filled diffs have not been used in 1/10th competition that i'm aware. Ease of maintenance look's good, Slipper removal looks really easy, not sure what it was like on the Aero.

The aero was pretty poor in a lot of ways if im truthful, i spent literally days in the garage trying to make things right on it.
I mean the design in general is old now, at least 5 years old anyway. I think the only time we will se if the durango is any good is when joe bloggs gets one, its ok hara and co running one because they are inch perfect but give it to a retard and we will see if its any good. Geared diffs haven't been used as far as i know either but does it mean they will be any better? time will tell Oh there is a distributor, i just haven't told you who it is yet |

You have to give them a lot of credit for the way the car looks. Is it an old design?? No not really. An old "concept" possibly. That said, the xx4 is the oldest of them all
A lot depends on how the "rally x ideas" cross over into the electric world. Diffs - are they too heavy?? Shocks - will the rubber covers create any stiction? I don't know!! There is no doubt in my mind, that the Durango cars that Gurd was hand producing were the best cars of their time. What we don't know is how this one will compare to that car. Personally i think this car will be competitive, how competitive, we don't know! A lot depends on how the distribution chain pans out. As it stands from what we have seen on the internet, it looks like it's direct sales only - but at least that is within UK from a UK "distributor".

You could say, put any car in the right drivers hands and it will win, even the smaller makes. My opinion is that the car has alot of neat features on it that will be interesting to see if they work on uk tracks. As Matt said, it looks like there will be uk support from what the website says, durango uk. I hope so as i have been looking forward to this release since the begining.
Slim cars still work well too, look at robbo in the nats, he has good results with the atomic as have a few others. I wish them all the best and can't wait to get one, the more cars/brands available the merrier

I agree with what Matt and Andy are saying, we don't know how the bits that are new will work. I don't think the car will be bad at all i am just not taken in by the hype surrounding it, it is beautiful though !!
The xx4 and the Bj4 were new designs when they were released, it just so happens they stood the test of time. Maybe the durango will make another step forward, we really dont know. |
