I'm not an Xray owner, nor was I looking out to buy one... but it just seems to me that a current XB4 owner (that would also runs it as a 2WD) has very little incentive to replace it for an 'official' XB4 2WD.

If I look over the design changes they've made and the flexibility of it's design out of the box (in terms out motor and battery positions for example), then for many people 280GBP will not be worth spending on a car with this few changes.

Plus, if you're an XB4 owner looking to try 2WD too, why not buy the 2014 XB4 and use your old XB4 as a 2WD+spare parts car?

IMO I think they could've done more: For example have developed a tub specifically for the 2WD that allows a TM2/DB1 layout with a shorty and a saddle layout like they have now (layout options like that could also have been interesting for their 4WD).

Don't get me wrong, I like the distinctive design elements of the XB4 and I'm sure this 2WD will be a great car, but after such a striking entrance into the 4WD buggy class I can understand the small changes they made to make it a 'dedicated' 2WD buggy are disappointing to some people.

I'm an xb4 owner since the car was released and have never seen the point of converting the car to 2wd, although the people which have certainly have had success with it. It's certainly cheaper to buy as a 2wd car instead of the new xb4 14 car. Don't forget compare this to other 2wd mid motor cars and it's a fairly cheap car. Ae cars you have to run a separate car for rear motor configuration.

Having run the xb4 in 2wd config I was really looking forward to something that would address the lack of rear grip with a re-distributed weight pattern or layout. It's the reason I put my 4 back into 4wd mode

For me it's note fought of a change to address its weaknesses in the sloppy months. I'm now stuck for 2wd car that will really deal with the wet stuff as I prer 2wd. The Vega option (should it occur) does sound interesting. The db2 looks awesome but I think I need a lazer and rb5 or 6 and the kit to make it hmm that's a lot of pennies IMHO.

What to do

OK so it seems the DB2 of course is the best option right now for astro or carpet.

But your hybrid - is it necessary to cut the chassis narrow in the front? With the car being offered now - would it rub the chassis? That's kinda like the only thing I "have a problem with"?

Default New Xb4/2wd Arrived and built

Thought people would like to see photos of the new Xb4/2wd, received from RC Disco yesterday and built yesterday.

Same build quality which I have come to love above Xray Cars.
