Interesting, so, generally it has been found (on astro) rear links longer and front links shorter, increasing rear grip and reducing steering?

Tom
Were you running the stagger ribs with foams in? Dave

Hope these are OK. There is also a brass weight under the servo, but you cannot see it, so no point in trying to photograh.

What's the ride height you use for astro tracks?
How should i best messure this? |

No, I run them without foams and on a cut down wheel.
I normally start with about 21mm ground clearance, from the chassis to floor. Alternatively it's about rear drive shafts level and then make sure the chassis is level from the side.

Cockerill, can you shed some light on this please. I tried alot of things.
Now we had two cars on the track, initial setups were close main difference one had saddles and low diff. The other had stick and high diff. One car had 40wt Schumacher oil frt and rear, mine had the high diff, 42.5 Losi rear, 37.5 losi front. We both agreed, way to much steering either way. So we chased out the steering. Both cars had foward rear shocks, hubs foward, top of shock inner hole, lower mount stck , 5* rear toe, swapped camber link mount with spacer, no sway bar. 83/20 8.5 sp v3.0 w 2.1 pro, the other was 80/23 sp v3 10.5 w 2.1 pro. We both tried the rear shocks on the back of the tower. It wasn't helping. On the front , the steering link ball was moved to the rear hole on the rack. Top of the shock all in, inner arm, arms reverse sweep. 0* castor block, shim on lower for the Steering block. Tires- fast at the track is BK bar pink rear, taper pin pink front. We could not get that combo to work. So we went to DD's rear, rounders frt, this helped. I'm waiting for my springs, just picked up a set of 2 & 4 hole pistons. Time to do some experimenting now. This track is hard packed 90x65

.5 rear toe??
I wonder if you're over damped and if there is no body roll. I presume yoku don't have th eroll bar on?? if so, take it off!

I thought 4 degree on the rear was enough anyway!
Once I'm happy with the car I'll be looking at 3 degree I'm trying the Ghea 4 and 5 hole pistons at the moment, but I think that's a mistake as the holes are HUGE compared with the Schumacher ones 1.55! So waiting on the Schumacher rounded 5 hole pistons |

How much rebound should i have on my shock's?
|
#72
|

|

I normally have about 1/2 rebound with my shocks.

Matt, 5 degree toe block, and no sway.

I noticed on some of the "Driver notes" setup sheets. The team uses a long ball socket cut down 2.5 mm. What and why is this? What benefit does it do?

anti-squat
in the manual it says you can change anti-squat from 0-3degrees but does not show you how.
obviously to get more anti-squat, I need to raise the fore side of the rear pivot block, do I use 0.03 shims like on the AE? EDIT....found a setup sheet and saw you can put washers under the rear pivot block, does that mean the standard setup is 3 degrees anti-squat? And putting washers b/n the rear bulkhead and pivot block will reduce antisquat? If so, how many washers gives what degree of anti-squat? it also says 4.5 degree anti-squat is possible with additional parts. Is this a new rear pivot block that sits the hinge pins lower? What parts do I need for 4.5 AS? |

No spacers = 3 degrees anti-squat, more spacers less antisquat. The 4.5 antisquate needs a different lower tranny block u772 & u773.
I unscrewed the front shock shaft ball socket 2mm and added a spacer between the spring seat and ball socket. Gave me some extra suspension travel up front.

Grass setup
Ran my cougar at the Mid East Regional today at Broxtowe and all I can say is awsome! So good to drive and very fast. This car is definatly improving my results.
Have tried to fill in a setup sheet but cant save it? How do you do it?

Some systems (im on a mac btw) let you save via the print method.. i hit print and then theres a save to file option and this allows you to save as pdf, it wont let you edit this version tho so make sure its 100% correct otherwise you'll be doing it all over again.. |

so besides eyeing it off, how many spacers = 0 anti-squat. and how did you find out about the lower tranny blocks u772 & u773, as I have been looking and cannot find anything about them on schumachers website. Still in production? |
