I've just built mine ready for the oOple Open this weekend. A few points to note:-
1. The body is about 5mm short on length if you cut to the markers. Try and leave a little extra on the nose end if you can. 2. The drive shafts are not precisely in line. To get them in line the motor housing needs to be moved 1-2mm towards the centre of the chassis. One for later batches perhaps. I thought it was me at first and then I looked at the official pictures and saw the same offset. I don't think this will matter too much, if at all. 3. TD's Kuhler body fits reasonably well - see piccies. Forgive the crap paintwork - I wanted something quick Electrics Standard 410 vs DARC DARC with Kuhler body.

Hi Tony
The shell is supposed to have a little clearance at the rear to allow for chassis flex and is secured using Velcro ( as low as possible to your radio gear) The motor mount is designed to be where it is to allow for radio room and makes no difference to drive angle of shafts Thanks for posting your car pics

Hi Tony
Our car in the advert has no post at all And looks really sleek It Just has some Velcro attached on the carbon sides but not covering the screws that hold the carbon sides on and still uses the front mount and clip. I find it easier to fit the front body clip if you bend the clip to an arc with some long nose pliers. You could use the standard rear mount by reaming the front hole further forwards from the mark in shell but to be honest I've never liked that Durango rear mount due to it being too close to the rear edge of the shell , so they always rip. Plus using the rear mount makes the DARC shell look to porky! Hope this helps Tony For any non DARC owners reading this I will explain The DARC shell has cut lines front and rear also front body mount hole and ariel marks But no cut lines for the sides So therefore you can install your radio gear the cut out front and rear on the shell, then place on the car until you are happy with the radio gear clearance . Then trim the shell sides level with the chassis bottom edge. Velcro on. This allows for larger speedos etc Hope this makes sense

I ran mine on grass for the first time this weekend (Southport Woodvale Rally) and it was awesome. I compared it back-to-back with my standard 410 (set up the same) and the DARC felt so safe in comparison.

well , finally got a computer to work so I can share my experiences.
I prepared and built the DARC literally finishing on the Wednesday before the Broxtowe national, the first time the car turned a wheel in anger was in the first timed practice it was very wet but the track drained very well so wasn't to much a problem went out on ballistic buggy greens all-round nothing cut off, even with me not being awake the car was very easy to drive and I learnt the track, 2nd practice was the same wet, but I could still see I could push the car more than I had done, 1st qualifier the car was really good only the muppet driving it let it down 76th in round, 2nd qualifier went out on schuey silvers allround and went 6 secs quicker 76th in rd very easy to drive 3rd qualifier I went back to ballistic greens these gave a little more front end so was easy to get better lines , I did get what I thought were glitches but in quali 4 found out I had had a sensor wire breaking down as the car had more pace in it than I had showed in qualification, I qualified I 5 not great but not bad , the final was dry so baptism off fire ran ballistic greens with nothing trimmed, on the outlap I could tell grip was very hi but I could drive it without problems(bear in mind on my old Durango I would only ever run staggers)the buzzer went I kept out off trouble and immediately gained 2 places into 3rd we were out front covered by less than 2 ft I managed to get to 2nd then my servo horn let go I tried to carry on but I had no left steering,thats racing, all in all even through a very mixed day off weather the car was great in all weather conditions, I can recommend the DARC without a problem ,cant wait to do a dry meeting as I have some ideas I want to try setup wise etc.... trekkker |
