Cut away the inside tire bead slot with a Dremel, scalpel or something else sharp or abrasive - do make sure you don't cut away both ribs on the inside, only the innermost one plus the flat part between the inside tire bead ribs. The resulting rim has a similar width to the cut stagger tire.
The inside tire bead is then glued onto the flat center part of the rim, with the inside edge of the tire bead hugging the 'new' innermost rib. The result looks a bit like this: |

Thanks for that... seems like a lot of effort and could easily go wrong and unbalance the rim.......surely there is a narrow front wheel available..?

Cut as close as you can with body cutters then just sand a little on sand paper they work fine

Imbalance in a wheel will more likely be down to: - A wheel with a bad roundness or warping. - A badly seated/aligned tire. - An out of balance insert (due to dirt, grit, moisture or a worn/torn insert). In case of front tire imbalance, the front rims are less likely to be warped because the ribs inside the wheel give more support than on the rear (in which a part is unsupported). Low Profile cut staggers (afaik) are usually run without inserts, so if you even get front tire/wheel imbalance, it'll most likely be down to bad seating of the tire. But to answer your question, I don't think AE offers narrow wheels. Schumacher might as they also sell the narrow tires, but cutting wheels is quite easy and cheap, so why invest in an extra mould, resulting in more expensive wheels? |
