I tried Simon's setup on this weekend's club meeting on our dirt track (I placed the Italy setup on). The car felt better than setup I came up with myself but still not as stable as I'd like it to.

There are a few things I like about it:
1) Turn in steering
2) No bottoming out after jumps

I'm having difficulties with:
1) Getting the power to the surface (it feels a bit like a 2WD when going on the throttle). The car is not easy to drift on higher speeds.
2) Hooking rear end which makes the car feel unpredictable because of which I felt I could not attack turns. This sometimes happens when approaching the apex.

To improve thing I tried different tyres which made it a bit better. Secondly I tried more toe-in at the rear which made it feel a lot better on throttle but I'm still not there yet. Last change I made were diferent front tyres (Blockheads) which gave me an awful lot of understeering with my D4 but the CAT is still oversteered with these as well.

Besides these things (which I think can be solved) the car feels great and with a lot of potential.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

I'm going to try your setup at the track this weekend, I'll tell you how it goes.

I just wanted to know if there any alluminum rear hubs for the new cat, or any other compatible parts for the new cat. I noticed the rear hubs are a little brittle.
Hi all-
been lurking awhile, just reading and working on my setup, but this post got my attention. I've been through three rear hub carriers in the last three packs. Granted I cartwheeled a few times, but nothing else has broken on the car. It does seem the rear hub carriers are a bit fragile relative to the rest of the car. I'd buy some alu ones if there were any.

if you've been having troubles have a look through the kyosho thread because i read a bit on there about boiling plastic parts to destress the plastic making it a bit tougher.

Any good setup for bumpy track and loose surface (hard clay with layer of dust over it)? Bit rutted after practices of 1:8ths.
Carpets on jumps and also in some corners.

Default Oswetsry Nationalm Potental starting set-up

Hi guys - without trawling through all the set-ups posted here I am posting my set-up for dry grass.

I raced at Oswestry BCL today and qualified 4th and finished 6th (2nd in the last 2nd leg and 9th in the 1st leg after breaking from 3rd on the last lap!)

The track was 100% grass with the exception of a large table-top in front of the rostrum. The track itself was quite large and we were completing 14 laps at around 21-22 second laps.

It is also the same grass that will be used for the National later on this season

Front suspension -
Track Washers - 1mm front and back
Roll Bar - No
Shock Position Mount - Middle
Shock Position Wishbone - Middle
Front Rake - 10 Degrees
Front Link Bracket - 44mm
Ditto Washers - 0mm
Washers on Hub - 0

Rear suspension -
Wheel Base - Short
Toe In - 3mm Rear, 1mm front = 2.6 degrees
Anti Squat Washers - 2mm Rear, 1mm Front = 1.3 degrees
Rear Link Bracket - 37.5mm
Washers - 4mm
Hub Position - Outer
Shock Position Mount - Middle
Shock Position Wishbone - Inside
Roll Bar - No

Shocks
Front -
30wt on 2 Holes
Schumacher Blue Springs (old ones)
Diaphragm - Centre cut out and removed
Ride Height – Wishbones level

Rear -
25wt on 2 Holes
Schumacher Grey Springs (old ones)
Diaphragm - Centre cut out and removed
Ride Height – Wishbones level

Transmission-
Rear Diff Height - Low
Front Diff Height - Low
Layshaft Pulley - Pin Through
Front Drive – One way
Gearing – 23 x 83 on Speed Passion 5.5
Internal Ratio – 33/23 Tooth Pulleys (kit standard)

We initially started out with 25wt oil in the front but went up 5wt after Round 1 to try to give the car a bit more stability as the track was drying.

We also started off with the Standard Diff and changed to a one-way after Round 3 and to be fair never looked back.

Please note the changes noted below from original e-mail

Quick question, on the shocks it says it's go 3 hole pistons drilled to 55 and 54, but what was the other hole? I'm assuming 555 and 544?

All 3 holes are drilled, so the front pistions drilled out to losi 55 rear 54.
The track was EPR mostly astro with some tarmac, warm day high grip.
