Go for the VRX - Heres a link to one, http://demonpowerproducts.co.uk/prod...oducts_id=3639
Comes with the hop-ups needed like, track rods for the steering instead of the 'bent wires', and bearings instead of bushes, countersunk chassis, etc. the spec is on the link. I have the VRX and my friend has the caterham, which is the basic kit just a little different, and I am glad I choose the VRX over the hot rod / Caterham, as the spec is so much better. |

me likey the mardave too
Hi
Yeah, I've certainly felt abit tempted by the old mardaves over the past week or so, certainly seems a v affordable way of racing...seems surprisingly though that there's not a mardave section on here

I have been racing mardave V12 for years, dont be tempted with the VRX, I personall would get a second hand one first. they hardly every break but when they do the parts are pennys.
When u get it go on the mardave website there is a bit on haw to set up ur car, well worth a look. With mardave 90% of getting the car to handle well is tyres, get them right for the track and ul be fine, this is why i say the VRX is not really worth it if ur starting. Get a Pug 205 with a big wing too (def the best shell) |

i agree go sencond hand for a base car then build it to how you want with upgrades, be cheaper than vrx! and to spec you want, some like the dif, but i hate it :-) also kimbridge servo saver and stronger sterring rods are a must before the car even sees the track, also drill down through the rear pod plate so u can but bolts in bottom and top as this will save the pod popping off the ball all the time. what elecs do u plan to run? as above tyres are 95% to what makes the cars handle on these cars, and get it as low as the club rules will let you ;-).

Sounds a good idea - I love mardaves and raced them a fair bit - even winning the batley championship
We raced on t27 rubber tyres, not sure what most clubs use? Here's my old car, now sadly gone

73/21 on 48dp. i guessing on that chart that top line is tyre diam, in witch case my rollout is 49.49?
i also have 5 degree timing on motor and 7.5 on the esc |

but reading along the 21 pinion row there's no 49.99 what size tyres do you have? or do this, (pinion x Dia(mm) x 3.142) / 73

If your interested in mardaves why not try Ed and Les at xtreme they are building v12 worlds edition cars from scratch and are great value for money.
