Default B5m diff Q.

Hi lads just wondering how often you would clean your diff, mainly used on full carpet. Cheers

Also what's the best wing to use. ( if poss code or link )

Personally I think if it's still smooth and works just leave it, mines a right mess and I have replaced the diff over time but I thinks the gears or something is causing it to wear more often.
It makes a right noise now so I'm gonna change the whole gearbox soon.
Running on carpet if the slipper and diff is tight will probably cause more wear on it.

A little vague

Ball diff or fear diff

Wings anything between 6.5" and 7"

I'd always rebuild the diff before a big race meeting but this is what I do for club racing
Ball diff as above. If it feel notchy clean and grease it, if it feel smooth leave it.
Gear diff, I've never used one in a buggy. But if there's no signs of leaks I would leave it alone. I'd recommend replacing the seal between the two parts of the housing when you rebuild it, they only seam to seal once in my experience with touring car diffs

As for wings, I run the rudebits R1 wing. It's virtually indestructible, which is handy with my driving.

If you're on carpet, you'll want a gear diff. A ball diff may be a little easier to drive, but you will end up needing to do a lot of maintenance and probably end up replacing balls or drive plates fairly quickly.

I strip my gear diff every 3 club meets and before any 'big' meetings, Regionals, oOple, Carpet Kings.....etc

A lot of people leave their diff's until they leak or start to feel different. I just change mine so that I know it's going to be the same as the last time I used it.

If you weigh your diff when you fill it with oil, you will always be able to put the same amount of oil in. If you go up or down an oil weight, always fill the diff to the same physical weight.

I guess it depends how anal you want to be about it. I know guys that don't touch a gear diff throughout the year and it's still been working for them.

Just do what works for you

If it's a ball diff......I can't really help lol I think they are more trouble than they are worth, but that's just my opinion

LMR wings are great. Have a look on google for the LMR website and they are on there.
