Unhappy Help with B4

Hello,

I was wondering would there be anyone that could help with the setup of my Assoc B4?

I am having issues with chugging, over heating, setting the diff and slipper clutch.

Also, it would be great as well if they are good at soldering as I need to extend the power line from my ESC to my Vortex motor.

Sorry to be so cheeky but I am really think that I could do with expert advice before I destory my new model!

I live around Beckenham area, please PM if you are willing. I am sure I could spring to beer money for anyone willing to help!

thanks

Danny

Of course we can help

Highly likely that we won't be at the track this weekend, need some time away from the old girl after all our recent efforts at the National.
May be down the following weekend.

Alternatively drop me a PM and we can see if we can sort something out before then

If you are getting issues with overheating and diff/slipper setting then i suggest you wait until someone looks at it or you could make the problem much worse.
Have you checked your gearing for the overheating?

thanks for your advice! I made some progress last night. I stripped down the gear box for the 3rd time and I noticed that I had installed the diff the wrong way around! Reset the diff and seems to be working a lot smoother!

It would still be great to get an expert to take take a look and see if there are any other Newbie mistakes I have made!

Hello,

took the car out again for a testing session. But still suffering from overheating and some slipping at full power.

Another interesting thing happened, the capactor on the ESC got so hot it melted the wire on the ON / OFF switch! I take this shouldn't happen!

here is my setup, let me know if there is anything that is wrong:

Factory B4
Pinon 22 on to Standard spur (should go up to 24 t)
Orion brushless 6.5
Orion Vortex ESC
Trak power 3600 2c

Danny,

Pinion definitely needs to be bigger! 24 or 25 would be OK!

Didn't get much time at the track this weekend (in truth wanted to leave it alone for a while after the National!) however, am expecting to be down there next Saturday AM, from about 10:00AM onwards for a few hours if you want to come along and have a chat and let us have a look at your B4?

Thanks as always! I will order a 25 t pinion for next week. Looking forward to meeting you guys next week! Maybe my B4 will make it around the track once before breaking down!

Danny,

Think you missed a useful session, means we have more time to work on problems and set-up which we would not ordinarily be able to do at a race meetings!

Also gives those drivers who are thinking of either taking up off-road and/or joining the club to come along and have a chat before they commit to anything, sort of an off-road clinic really.

Think we will be repeating these sessions along with our normal work parties, we will almost certainly be back again for more next Saturday 11 July!
