Default Spektrum receiver compatibility

This is something that most will not be aware of until having spent their money, the DX4R Pro is listed in the Spektrum specification as being DSMR and DSM2 compatible.

Unfortunately any radios sold within the EU are disabled via their software status for DSM2 use, this is due to transmission regulation changes within the EU!

So DSM/DSM2 receivers will not work!

My mate has recently bought the new DX6 and a DX4 and neither will work with any of his existing DSM2 receivers, a hard pill to swallow!

I should have added that the DX3r Pro is DSM/DSM2 compatible and will not bind with DSMR receivers unless they are also DSM2 compatible, fortunately most of the recent examples appear to be.

I will beg to differ, I have used a SRS4210 DSMR rx with my DX3r pro and also used SR3100 dsm2 rx's with a DX4r pro.

edit : after just talking to a friend he has pointed out that yes after 2014 DSM2 was removed so it depends on your handset firmware

Yeah, we had some issues with my mates dx4 binding with the receivers I've happily been using with my dx3r fire the last couple of years.

Pain in the arse.

As I said the DX3Pro only works with DSM/DSM2 receivers and is not DSMR compatible, the DX4Pro receivers are DSMR/DSM2 compatible so they do not obsolete the DX3Pro.

Wo wo wo, I have a DX4s handset which works with SR 300, 210, 410, 4210, 3500 I also have DX3e and DX2m handsets, DSMR will only bind with newer hand sets but are you saying newer handsets will not bind with older RX's??

My DX4R Pro is currently bound to a DSMR and 2 DSM receivers with no problems at all and that's how I understood it, the new handsets are backwards compatible but the old handsets are not forward compatible. One thing I did find with the old DSM receivers was they do not like the upgraded BEC in some ESC's specifically the LRP SXX V2, and Flow Works.
