Lightbulb frankenmotor?

Its a bit strange this, but I thought I would ask anyway. If you had say an orca motor, could you put a thunder power stator or rotor in it to create a frankenmotor? Obviously it would have to fit first, but would it work?

It would work. Check...

Bearing sizes - they are not standard so the rotor you want to fit might not fit the bearings in the motor you have.

Rotor clearance to the sensors - if the rotor fits the bearings the spacing may be different. If the end face of the rotor is too far from the sensors you are going to have issues. Once you have shimmed it correctly to the sensors, it might not allow you to fit the endplate. Rotor clearance to the sensors is key, don't bodge it!

Amount of shaft sticking out of the front of the motor - 'cause if it is not in the right place you might not be able to fit a pinion.

Providing you check these things there's no reason it won't work. It might not be BRCA legal for some classes, especially Stock classes, so check that too. HTH

I don't actually have two motors to play with, its just I was looking at thunder power motors and was surprised to see they sell stators, rotors, cans etc on their own. As I am getting a dualsky z5, I was curious to see if I could create a super motor. Good to know though, once I get rich I can try it out
