Breaking in LiPos, how many people do this?
As title really, I have a box of Ultimate Nano-Techs ready for this year's regionals which I haven't used yet.
When I started racing again in 2011 I read in an article about LiPos that you should charge and use new batteries gently for the 1st 3-4 runs to settle them and i've always done this, but it takes literally a day to do each battery properly and it's time I don't have between now and April 26th. Would be good to hear from people who either do or don't do this and their experience of whether or not it significantly affects the reliability/lifespan of batteries Last edited by HOTSHOT III; 06-04-2015 at 08:15 AM. |

I've been running nano tech both saddle 5.1 and shorty 4.2 and I just charge them at 4amps all the time - the original batteries are still going fine after 3 years in my sons car and will take in around 2200mah after a run

+1, exactly what I do: I also use NanoTechs and just never charge them over 4.2A/1C... The edge is off them, but they're still working fine
And to extend the lifetime further, don't run them until your ESC cuts off, just 5 minute runs or less, and store them at +/- 3.8v/cell (just make sure to not store them fully charged, nor empty). Last edited by Origineelreclamebord; 06-04-2015 at 12:40 PM. |

As above, just charge and go.
One thing do with out fail is balance charge EVERY time I charge them.
