Hi folks. I am trying to mount a Speed Passion GT 2.0 at the front of my 22, but it is too big! If I remove the battery brace, am I in danger of damaging the speedo in the event of a head on crash? I am considering using a plate to locate the battery, with the speedo on top of it. There is not enough headroom to mount the speedo + fan on the top of the motor.
Thanks! Pete |

hi
Do you really need the fan?
I run a 10.5 SP with a Novak+heatsink. Warms after 15 mins run, but doesn't get very hot (can touch it). MY ESC just sits on top of one of the saddles with some velcro so I can easily remove. I guess it depends what motor you are using. Naushad |

Thanks Naushad. I'm running indoors, with a 7.5 SP. Probably too much, but even with a 10.5 I would still be a bit worried about running without a fan. Having said that, these speedos are supposed to have thermal cut out aren't they? I don't have the experience or knowledge to make that call! I had a SP Citrix stock which seems to have just died, and I was running that without a fan. Didn't seem too hot, so not sure what happened there - and that was running a 10.5...

hi
A 7.5 T is hefty for 2wd...but if that's your cup of tea...
Try a bit without the fan and assess ESC temp...most of the latest ESC have temp sensors...You should be ok. Naushad |

Thanks - I just checked the 'dead' Speed Passion, and it is working again, so I have put that back in. Dodgy connectors from my messing around probably!

Oh forgot to mention...
If you really want more clearance for your ESC+fan you could try a FTW Vane forward cab body.
