Default Hobbywing v2.1 esc- decent speedo??

Alright lads,

I'm getting myself back into RC and will be racing primarily 2wd off road and perhaps on road touring cars aswell. I intend to keep cost low to begin with so have noticed the Hobbywing v2.1 esc going for £60 which seems well priced for the spec. When comparing it to the newer v3 version it seems very similar only a larger footPrint.

Has anybody had any experience of these ESC's?

Thanks

Chris

In same position as you, getting back into it after a very long lay off! I bought a Hobbywing 120amp V2.1 speedo for the same reason that you're looking it, very similar to the Speed Passion GT from what I can tell with a lower price, the programming card (which makes life so much easier) is cheap as chips too!

No problems at all so far and barely runs warm with a 7.5t motor. Easy to set up and change software on the ESC with your computer via the programming card as well, I'll admit some of the parameters on the more advanced modified profiles are above my head though

If you want a cheap yet sorted ESC you won't go wrong, certainly if you're getting back into it like I am.

I have one, I picked one up after the good recomendations from this site, and being new too all this I was worried about buying the right gear.
I replaced a burnt out SPX with it and find its great.
Would reccomend buying the digital programming box and upgrading the the latest software too though, The box was about £12 from Giant shark If I remeber rightly.
Obviously It will depend on what you are running motor and scale etc. but I find it doesn't get warm even with the bost turned up (1/10 offroad and 8.5 motor 2wd).
Although I usually have the boost and timing turned right down on "newb mode" so I dont crash so often.

Another for the HW v2.1 here. I used mine in boosted stock and 'blinky' stock in 12th and GT10 racing, and it is very good. The latest software that sits on your PC is fine, and the programming box makes it easy to make changes quickly in the pit without the radio switched on.

CPD Racing stock the item and provide excellent back-up for your queries. Check them out if you are new back as their support (Giant Shark are upfront on this; they don't have car racers on their staff) could be worth a lot more than the few £££s more you'll pay. HTH

As Pete mentioned, we have them in stock and as we race ourselves, we're more than happy to help with any queries/questions you may have
