The ZXR-MKI uses medium gold shocks and has a taller front tower than a ZX-R MKII

I am thinking that maybe I could use the 38mm velvets on the rear of either my tub car which will only run on smooth surfaces or the back of the Mid SE-X but the 46mm are too long for any of my buggies, what on earth are they for?

Not sure if its best to just get the 30mm bodies or try and sell the shocks as they are NIP and start again

Its a long shot but would the shafts from the old gold shocks be compatible with these, I know they are compatible with Equalizers

the velvet are tripple caps so the bottom cartridge is very long ....compared to the twincap....

So you are saying to use the bottom caps from twin cap pro shocks on the velvets?

All these different Kyosho shocks really does my head in

There are special touringcaps for the velvet shocks they are not as deep/high as the tripplecap bottom, so one could call them twincaps velvet since they look like the trippel caps.

Was wrong on the part number here is the right one w5189-03

here are an pic

Guys anyone got a tub chassis as i need some help.

If you can see if the holes on a mk1 flat chassis are exactly in the same place as the tub you have and let me know. My proto that ive sent to have made again appears to have a couple of differences compared to the original and just need confirmation to see if it was just that or is identical.

I wish i took notes as it was 1990 when i did the first but do know the servo is in a different position as my 9401 futaba wouldnt have fitted, so not too bothered about that, more interested in if the top and bottom holes and top deck/rear mount holes match.

Cheers

James my tub was drilled to take a MKII upper deck and then had extra holes drilled to work with the MKI upper deck so is probably not of any help to you

Actually it is. Need to know if the rest of the holes are in the correct place or if they are slightly further in and is like quarter of a mm.

OK I will check it out tomorrow night

I do remember the holes for the battery strap posts being a bit closer together by a few mm compared to other Kyosho buggies

Are there any other holes in particular you are interested in, gearbox, pivot block or?

Gearbox holes and pivot block and central 3 poles. Also rear top deck mount.

Hi James

All those holes seem to line up the same as a ZX chassis except the upper deck holes as mine was orignally drilled for a MKII upper deck, the new holes are not quite in the right place but thats an error on the drilling that was done after the tub was made by someone that wanted to go to the other upper deck

I think i designed my original tub fractionally longer by roughly 1mm at the front gearbox to take away some of the belts slack. Its driving me crazy as the layout doesnt make sense but the chassis was stunning indoors and also on grass and really rutty tracks as well.

Nick

Kamtec did a mold but mine that was supplied was a proto so a rough cover. Ive a new one but is the only one ive got and will keep and fit onto my zxs when its had a full rebuild as its being shelved.

I dont have the plastic for the gearboxes but a simple solution is to cut a new wing to size and bend the sides and cut to fit the rear gearbox and also cut and bend one for the front.

If no luck with kamtec i can always sell you a couple of the gear covers for a tenner, that way if you make a mistake you can have another go but be advised the screw section by the rear tower is very tricky to do as the cover is fractionally bigger so is tricky to mount and you need to drill a hole fractionally thru the side wall of the cover.

Iso how many did you get? He will have to grovel wont he.

I will have a look this weekend and work out the dimensions for you. The reason i didnt do that design was more for strength hence why my original designs were four holed.

Default What to do for LA-111

Hmmm, I could take a picture of me kissing a cardboard cut-out of you Iso. ?
I would be willing to exchange one for a classic English fry-up Fed-Ex'd to you in Sweden?
I'll name one of my tropical fish after you... Isobarik the Guppy

Cheers on the gearbox dust covers James, but I did exactly that. I purchaced some Lexan from Hobbycraft and made them.
