very cool. i had a motor company BIGBLOCK MOTORS. I made them out of my house for about 5 years. I still run what i made! anyway, when brushless motors started to come out i wisely got out of it. In dirt brushed motors are just fine, i don't mind cutting a comm every now and then. I just finished 3rd with a 10x1 in my xx4 on sat.

Brushless are actually a bit easier to wind than brushed motors, but don't benefit quite as significantly from perfect hand windings. Still not too hard to do though.
A TON of plane guys rewind their brushless outrunners. I actually thought about rewinding my Novak... Jon |

Anyone got any details of rewinding brushless motors, i'd be interested to see/read some stuff.

What is there to gain by doing this? ...
Surely to god somthing thats made and tested electonically with set draw / timing levels by the manufacturer is pretty rock solid? I have heard that some of the stuff top level TC racers have products that are supirior the off shelf items that may have been tamperd with? Seems a little bit pointless to faff around, after all are they even legal if they have been "Tamperd with"?

My Novak wouldn't be hard to rewind at all, there are actually teeth on the stator (a rarity in inrunners).
I would assume that a lot of other companies making inrunners for cars make their stators the same way. The only problem I see is getting the rear endbell off the Novak. I think it's a friction fit over the stator, and a tight one at that. |
