New Associated 4WD Prototype?
I was reading in the Durango discussion that Team Associated drivers have been testing a new 4wd prototype. Is this true or just a rumor? Hard to believe they would come out with a new buggy when the B44 is the current world champ. Good for us if it's true though!

The bit I saw might be different - but I think it was referring to some AE guys running the (very) old Durango prototype from years ago??
I can't see a new 4WD from AE for a few years yet - the car is still at the top.

Waiting untill your car gets beaten isn't exactly a smart move, you have to keep innovating to keep the car at the top. As more 4wd's are entering the market, it will be tough to keep the car on the highest spot on the podium so the B4 and B44 will need some changes/adaptations some day. If they didn't have the best drivers, maybe the Predator X11, Tamiya TRF511 or Cat SX would be world champion, a car is (for 70%) as good as its driver

Its not about being on top, its about selling cars. Even Associated don't care about winning that much! But a successful car sells, so they need to keep being successful.
Still, like the Durango, I doubt AE would actually release the car until the B44 is completely outclassed. Remember it took them years to replace the gold pan RC10 even though the '89 Stealth car was radically different. More likely they would keep developing the new car until they actually need it. |

Team Associated have never been one for changing cars on a 18-24 month basis, only when they feel they need to.

In my opinion, that's what sets AE apart from the pack. Great cars, well designed and thought out from the start!

If I happen to find myself in Spain this weekend, I will certainly try get some snaps of it!
Is the Craggster not doing Nationals this year? From what I hear/see he's not doing 4 rounds so can't compete for the championship?
