Diff Outdrive Wobble?
Had my car for a couple months now, and the outdrives on my rear diff are pretty loose in the diff case (up and down movement), both case side and gear side. Not sure if this effects the car or if there is something that can be done?

Had mine apart the other day and I looked at this and it looks like the wear on the output drives. I do not think that it makes too much difference the main thing is to make sure that the X ring is good so as to make a decent seal so the diff will not loose all its oil around the output cup. I had the parts of a brand new diff and even when new there is quite a lot of movement.

The outdrives should have been on bearings and a seal.
Bearings would take the load allot beter and u would have less Hassels with the x rings. Tresray, make a option diff with bearings Plz !

get a packet of 7x10 and 5x7 shims and slip them over your outdrives before putting them on.
it will take away alot of slop. i'v posted it on the forum many times, but no one listens/does it. |

Would it not be better to have them on the inside of the diff?

having them inside would push the gear in more..
also sandpaper the anodize off the hex of your outdrives if the gear is too tight. the reason why there is so much slop is because there is alot of room under the hex. |

Not if they're 'underneath' the circlip though?

yes it will. if the eclip is higher, the gear will be in/higher
the e-clip should be sitting all the way in. |

Durango do 0.8mm washers that go in the diff instead of black 0.5mm which comes standard in the kit (Mine was one of the first 410R's). The wobble is minimal and it doesn't leak as much.
It felt rough at first but after one night of club racing it freed up nicely. |
