Crossbar?
Noticed in a thread here that someone had some sort of rod or bar running alongside the casing for drive belt in an AE SC10 4x4. Can someone tell me what that is and what its for?
 Bought one recently and at that position theres a post like a short body posy at either end, but certainly no rods of any kind. Makes me wonder why skimp when the thing costs over £400 to start with.

Right...!
Can see that now mate...Ta!  Anybody any ideas on that bar/rod arrangement? Im thinking some sort of chassis stiffener.

They made an upgrade kit which the rod was part of along with a saddle pack battery holder arrangement. And yep your correct in assuming its a chassis brace/stiffener. And i belive you remove the underbody mounts to fit it

Seen someone flogging the battery strap thing, but mine is the 4x4 so the batts are offset, so no need for the strap, the brace might have been handy though.
Being a dismal driver, I was looking at doing something up-front to prevent any disasters to come. Im looking at fitting an MT shock between the front shock tower and the bumper, sort of taking the 'bite' of the collision? Or is that something already tried and failed?

I found on my SC104x4 that my lousy jumping and worse landings sometimes caused the belt to come off the front pulley and put out of a race.
This was due to the chassis flexing if coming down too hard nose first. Fitted the available carbon chassis brace ( or cross bar ) problem solved - still lousy landings but no slipped belt

Thanks to a wonky servo I had to dig out
, I came across some pics showing that area is fact in two bits...handy! So I'll be doing something to prevent that coming apart, looks like that brace is needed sooner or later.Found a shock that should fit between the forward tower and the front nudge bar, I'll make something up to hold it onto the bar, ditto for the tower too. I know theres some 'give' in the bar, but the chance of a harder impact there is much higher, so Im going to fit a shock in there to hopefully absorb some of the pain.....any ideas on shock oil for this purpose?
