Default S2

After running the car for the first time in competition i got to say how impressed i was.
Mr Clarke leant me the car for the Bury national, the work and craftmanship that has gone into the car is 110%.
I never touched the set up on the car and the performance was great, only problem was the tripples which the car really struggled on!!
Around the rest of the track the car was super fast.
I managed to qualify 10th in the D Final which wasn't bad considering i didn't jump the tripple all day. And i was putting in 26 sec laps, just shows how quick this car will be.
Worst part of the weekend was having to give it back.

It is very strange, myself and Craig Harris really struggled on the tripples. We watched yourself all fly over them!!!
Not sure what it could have been, tried smaller pinion, turned punch up on speedo. Car just would not get the traction/accelerate over the last jump

i know what it is.. i think

northys car is very light.. 3 gramms or so over weight wasn't it G? the car is alot more nimble cause of the weight reduction and easier to put the grip down.. then fly abit further cause of the reduced weight.

that's my theory on it.. i struggled at first on them with my b4.. removed all extra weight and it flew over. a milder motor also works better as the new astro on the triples is very loose, so traction is very important.

If you looked in rounds 3 and 4, more people were running new rubber due to the fact the sand was coming up more and more through the day.

Yep, my car is very light, I had to add weight as it was 10 grammes under after ppractise when I checked.

Also, you want power but without wheelspin My tyres were not wearing as fast as most people due to the easy power delivery of the car

John,
with the X-6 short of traction I've found the trick with that bit of track is to take the apex with two wheels on the white concrete, and then roll the first hump (I'll not call it a jump). Get the power down smoothly on the downslope.

The Slim did look really good, I was watching it while taking pic's.

Sounds like you are of the same opinion as me with the mid-motor thing, the traction problem is small, but the overall handling package is ACE.

Strange one really as both cars were running the new gearbox, which gives a lot more rear end grip, the week before bury i tested the car at Stotfold, and i was using worn out tyres and 2 deg rear toe in, as i had so much rear end grip.

I did notice that if you went wide into the triples and onto the sand you would struggle even with the 4wd to clear them, well i did lol.

But there are more development parts to come for the S2 to further improve it

No idea !!!! I stood there and watched most cars go over, watched Craig struggle with same problem as me, it was only place on the track. Everywhere else the car was like a missile out of the corner. I would love to go back and run the car round there without the pressure to find out what it was. I personally think it was something to do with the way we had the car set up.

I agree John, I would like to go there and try every option part in my box aswell as a few that aren't.

The car was indeed awesome round the rest of the track and had tons of traction. I think it was the lack of anti squat due to us not having all the option parts availabe yet, we are currently only able to run 1 degree anti squat.

Also after thinking back neither of us were following the law of the triple as described by Stu.

Yes, but, you were a fair bit lighter than us and you were obbeying "the law"

It wasn't till I watched the finals that I really clicked about that triple, but it was a bit late by then

I didn't ride the white curb, I thought that was slower. I just tried to make sure the wheels never left the ground over the first one, then NAILED IT!!!!

I think confidance is probably 80% of getting over it tbh.

There is another way, and that is to hop the first one, then nail it, but you have to land on the throttle, any hesitation and you don't make it. Hence the confidance thing

agreed about the confidance, the first time i went i could barely do it.. another meeting or so later and got them spot on.. i think rolling over the first one completely and hitting the throttle on the downslope is the best option.

I think I was kind of hoping then nailing then crashing then swearing.

Perhaps if I'd nailed the bitch more confidently I could have left out the last two

If I ever go for the keep the wheels on the ground approach.

swearing to your self i hope craig

The cars did look good, i was actually in northys heat and his car did seem alot more consistant, my B4 could be quicker in certain sections.. but over 5 minutes, or even one lap northy definatly had an edge over me.
