Default Which paint mask is this, or what do you use???

OK painters, I need to know which mask or material I need to use to achieve this sort of effect (the small dots on the shadow):

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, can't find a higher resolution photo of it. I'm sure I've seen one of the painters on here using it but honestly can't remember which!!!

It's basically what looks like a huge sheet full of holes, all equal in size and spread evenly on the sheet. Holes are probably 1.5mm in diameter.

quite hard to find cheap flexible ones. i got a couple ones left over from my computer case.

just type varied wording like perforated sheet, mesh, metal etc into ebay or on the internet

How do you get this stuff to stay flush to the surface whilst painting? Is there a clear low-tack glue I can use or do I just hold it down and pray? Whenever I try this I tend to get varying results, depending on the curvature of the surface I'm spraying. :S

the mesh is so fine jon when you spray through it it doesnt spray a square, the gaps are between 1.5mm and 2mm so it looks like a circle, the paint would have to be so thin to get the square shape ,probably wouldnt adhere to the shell,

I have some vinyl sheet that is covered in 1.5mm holes. It is designed for printed graphics on real car/bus windows so you can still see out from the inside. I have not tried painting with it but I cannot see why it would not work.
