Default BB shocks vs normal shocks

as in the title, actually ...
at first, as not being blessed yet, allready, with a lot of rc-knowledge, I thought Bigbore shocks were an improvement because of the bigger volume.
I thought they were less critical as for setup. As I also thought that a proper set of shocks with just the correct setup: oil, pistons, springs .. would do as well as a regular shock.
But it seems that sometimes drivers that actually have the BB-shocks still use the regular ones.
Thus I understood that in certain conditions BB were not the best way to go

soooo .. thus my question: what are the differences between BB and regular as in in which conditions should you use BB, why ... and when could regulars be better, for what reason.
If this has been explained elsewhere, sorry and please then just point/link me in the correct direction.
thx in @vance

I have read alot about this in a couple of forums and this seems to be the popular thoughts on it.

Big bors are better for bumpy dirt style tracks that the shocks work alot. The BB's oil stays cooler and more consistent. Negative is the higher weight and role center

The small bores are a better choice for smoother tracks, lighter also.

I asked Tom Cockeril why he uses small Shocks on his 4wd, he answered they give a more agressive feel.

I haven't tried to find the difference between the two myself, but what I do know is that I find myself using thicker oils in my BB's than I did with the small Boars.

Hope this helps some

Ludo, I only use BB on very very bumpy tracks like Luik and Merchtem.
In all other conditions I use SB. BB do make the car a bit more stable but also the car feels more sluggish(SB makes the car react quicker).

IMO it's also more difficult(combination piston/oil) to set up a BB correct. The sweet spot with SB is just greater.

On small bores the car is more responsive and is more sensitive to oil changes and spring changes
