which servo in a mo3?

i run a 13kg digtal caster servo in mine maybe a little over kill
we are also racing m03/5 with hobbywing 13t (3000kv) motors
with 35amp speedys in australia which is very big class here

I run a Futaba S9551 low profile one in mine which is probably overkill as it would cost more than the car if I had to replace it, but it was a leftover from when I ran a touring car. As it's mounted high up, I reckon it's a "good thing" to try to pick a servo that is fairly light so it doesn't add to the M03's inherent traction roll characteristics but at the same time have one that is robust enough to take all the abuse that is fed into to mechanism by the direct steering setup. I also would always use a Tamiya hi-torque servo saver spring (but not the plastic horn that comes with it - it's crap and snaps really easily) and the hop-up alloy servo horn. This firms the steering up and stops the car wandering all over the place, the kit servo saver is just too weak and basically packs up after a few races.

I used to use a relatively slow servo, and when I upgraded to a high-end KO I was amazed at the difference it made. So I personally think the faster the better, those front wheels do a lot of work!

Low profile up top is a good idea though to keep the weight down but be aware the S9550 etc don't quite have the output in the centre, so some adjustment will be required to get it all lined up.

I've just bought a Savox SC-1251MG (metal geared) lo-profile servo for my new M05. It seems OK for the job, cost £45. When I last bought a Futaba I checked out servoshop.co.uk as they list all the specs so you just scroll down the list and pick the one that suits you best, in this case the 3 factors you need to consider are speed/weight/cost. Only you know how much you want to spend , obviously if you are on a budget that will restrict you, if you have an open chequebook then that opens up loads of options. Like a lot of things it's a matter of getting the right compromise. Good luck. A "sorted" Mini is a lovely thing .

Check out the bluebird BMS-621MG High Speed Servo (Metal Gear) 0.10 seconds, on ebay got mine for £15! This is the standard size but you can get small micro ones for about the same. I use mine in my TA05 and DB01 and for the price they're brilliant.

I had the Bluebird low profile in my M03. It died after a few crashes. If you're going low profile, your choices are really KO, Futaba, Savox, Sanwa and Orion. Orion and Savox are the same.
