Bosscat
Having built up an optima to run round the track on nice days I thought I would pull my bosscat out of the loft and see what it was like, well pleased as all it needed was a new undertray and some new crash back rings, the belts seem in good nick. The last track this went round before being put away as we moved to norfik was the original EPO track around 1991-92 I think it was, sadly my original LRP ESC that was one of the first as it was supplied in clear heatshrink with an lrp sticker on has long since gone.
It's hats off to schumacher, I forgot how quality and well thought out this car was for how old it is, cleaver things like the totaly sealed ball diff in an off road car...nice, can't wait to get it on the track. errm on a nice day as the car is mint, just needed a new wing and a couple of new stikers on the shell to hide the thin paint job

Nice Bosscat you have there... interesting looking chassis with the angled battery slots, I can't remember that being standard?
I really like the Bosscat series - as a vintage racer it has that basic design & resemblance to the earlier CAT cars.... but includes all the upgrades that makes it a usable proposition - I bet they could handle LiPo & brushless power & show a few of the newer cars a clean set of (CAT) claws |

there were a number of chassis available on the bosscats, the assymetric chassis as shown here, the standard 6 slots parallel and also an 8 slot version too.

It could well be a works chassis, back when i drove this car I was a member of EPO. Our cars all ran the latest stuff as we all watched and were helped by Kevin Moore and his dad,as he was one of schumachers main drivers. thus our cars tended to be clones of his car. if you look at the back end of the car the top link mount under the shock mount was had made by colin moore, thats why it's not CF, the car is also running cougar rear wishbones and I think the tear hubs are from the schumacher truck at that time.

Asymetric chassis
As mentioned previously this is the asymetric chassis plate. Didnt come with the works though but I think it was a later 'tune up' type item available from Schumacher.

Found one of my old photo albums from back in the day, scaned some photos from it, in one of the photos the car is on the workbench when I was very first building it, and the chassis has cells straight ahead not angled, so the chassis on it now must have been one I put on at a later date.
In the other pics one is of the car finished before it's first run and the other is of it just comming off the straight at the reedy race at aire valley still the best track I have raced on in the uk

There were a few variations of the bosscat.
There was a base model SPORT (or something or other) which had a black fibreglass plate chassis with no cell slots, silver motor side plates and cheaper shocks (I think black plastic maybe-not sure). Then there was the TEAM which sported red motor sideplates, carbon fibre slotted chassis with 8 slots, silver (pro type) shocks and so on. Now the bosscat WORKS was similar to the team but had the purple motor side plates, dark green pro shocks, alloy roller driveshafts, alloy diff centres and a other odds and ends. From what i have seen there were two optional chassis that weren't released in the kits. The ASYMETRIC and the USA chassis were more tuning options down the track. The USA had only six cell slots which moved the cells further forward and closer to the centre line of the chassis. This chassis looked much leaner than that of the earlier kit released items. |

Finished, I'm very pleased with it.found up some original tyres. I forgot how close the pinion was tho the back cell of the pack,no way anything bigger than these old 3300s will fit in, I can only just fit a 19T with this spur...hope it's dry on sunday ,can't wait to take it for a few laps
Looking at a few photos and thinking back, this one one of the first boss cats, I bought it from the first batch the shop had when they came out, to replace my tomy intruder.....

Hey Bormac can you squeeze Lipos under those CF battery straps? I am looking to mount my Lipo saddle pack and I am flip flopping between CF straps or pure tech velcro jobbies.
